Say one thing, do another

Pros

Some good people in a couple departments. Free lunch once a month.

Cons

Everything’s lies. The plant supervisor says he cares about employees and he obviously doesn’t. They say they’re improving things but they hate new ideas. I was attracted to this company because they said they wanted people to help improve things, but if there’s one thing they hate, it’s ideas for improving. Also promotions very literally don’t exist. The only way to move up is for you to create the position. Now read the part above about not wanting to improve.

Thank you for your comments. While there is always room for improvement, we pride ourselves on providing employees with additional opportunities through stretch assignments, increased job duties, and participation on cross-functional/cross-divisional projects based on interest and availability. Our employees are also encouraged to ask questions and seek clarity when needed. Through employee feedback, we recognized a need for more efficient (and specific) training programs and have launched an initiative that defines role responsibilities, assesses gaps, and provides targeted training so that the appropriate skills can be obtained. This should provide greater value to all employees across our organization.

Pros

Most of the people are genuinely good people and fun to work with. Employees are rewarded for planning and proposing improvements to speed/efficiency/costs within any of the manufacturing teams.

Cons

Regular clashes between old/experienced and new/fresh middle-management people from various departments. Some areas have developed high-school-esque cliques that believe in finger-pointing at the slightest hint of trouble
