A career low working here

Pros

There are no real pro's to working here. It might make a great place for a police relocation program. At best, if you have personal issues or need time off for medical problems they allow it with no push back. But they do leave the door open to demand a doctors note after one sick day in the handbook.

Cons

There is no office communication or leadership and the owner has never provided career paths or goals for people. He never meets with anyone one on one to invest in his relationship with the team. He only wants YES men and nothing else because his way is the only way. I say with complete conviction that the owner goes out of his way to prove you do not need to me a good leader to run a business because fear of losing ones job at any second is enough. Everything is always on fire job wise so the bodies are rushed in to work in the field as the turnover rate is staggeringly high. There is nowhere to go career wise here, there is only add-on jobs until you find yourself wearing 20 different hats at the same pay you had at the start. There is no real chain of command as one person dictates basically all that goes on and often ignores the handbook by terminating people without following the proper disciplinary process. There is no H.R. Department in place to protect employees and when there was an H.R. Generalist in place to try and police the owner they quite because of the insanity. The owner also regularly disregards the processes in place that other employees must follow creating unnecessary chaos. He has made employees wait anywhere from 5 years or more for performance reviews and doesn't give pay raises hardly ever despite buying up businesses out of state and having more than one house. He also lost a class action lawsuit for refusing to pay workers their overtime several years back. He does not accept employees feedback or suggestions and often pretends to have a conference call to jump on whenever a field tech wants a moment of his time because he has no respect for his employees. The owner has often talked bad about former employees that quit on him by making up stories about them "having problems" and says bad things about difficult customers too. He basically lives in denial and refuses to acknowledge that his lack of positive leadership and fair career boundaries is the root cause of it all. Surviving this employer can be a struggle as the owner has zero regard for the employees and treats the team like they are robots with no respect for boundaries. He will make you perform tasks and take on roles with no additional pay regardless if you have experience or know what to do. He will dump responsibilities on you that have nothing to do with your career whenever he feels like it. He will hire you in as one job description and as the boundaries blur you will become something entirely different than what you were hired for. Several employees have told me at various times over the years how they don't feel like they are a part of anything. They have no connection or link to the employer because there is zero engagement. More than once, tech's have asked me if the owner even cares are acknowledges how much they do. If he sees that you have an active job seeking status on any of the job websites he will quickly lay you off or find ways to terminate you with no warning without even discussing what he can do to make you stay. The list goes on so stay away if you know what's good for you because you have no value to these people and loyalty is a one way street here. It's extremely rare for people to last 3 or more years here and the owner prefers letting people go rather than paying them their worth and communicating with them.
