I worked at Tecta America full-time

    Pros

They have the ability to pull personnel from other satellite locations to insure that the company can complete projects on time

    Cons

Micro managed from corporate office. The home office dictates who you can by from, and it only benifits the home office.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees as humans not like a number. Nobody is perfect, it's how you handle the mistake that makes you a good manager.

I worked at Tecta America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A true "national" roofing contractor that can take on all types of project and service clients just about anywhere. The company leadership is knowledgeable and respected in the industry as are many of the people they have at the various branches. They are in a good financial position which is rare for many roofing companies...and they are one of the largest in the country as far as volume goes. Great culture from the top-down.

    Cons

The lack of real branding was a struggle working on the National team. Some offices branded themselves as Tecta and others strictly wanted to keep the local name for local market awareness. It made sense to some degree but often confused "national" type clients. There was a disconnect between the national sales team and local offices regarding customers and direction as to who was doing what. That said, things may have changed as they often do. Not too many cons beyond that. Mostly good people who just need to realize they are on the same team.

    Advice to Management

The company is probably better suited than any others of similar size and type to really be successful and a dominant presence. You probably have more "national" clients that you realize...how to tackle those clients is the issue. Realize that everyone is on the same team and that it takes that team to really grow certain accounts at that level. Incremental business can come off what currently is in place of done correctly. Good experience overall.

I worked at Tecta America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

When it's going good, it's good. But be careful, because if they feel you have made too much money working 70-75 hours a week on a job that takes you away from your family, they will push you out of the company in a very cold way. And they will really try to get a way with it.

    Cons

The president will push you out if you are making more money he believes you should.
If you are not white, you are treated "beneath them".
Way too much turn around with employees.
When you come for help, you will be turned away but told "an investigation has happened" but that they can not discuss the investigation YOUR complaint has started. These people working and owning this company and branch off companies are very, very bad people. Please watch your back.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your employees. They are why you make the money you do. When they come to you with problems, take care of them.

    Pros

The benefits are good but costly. Only pro I have for this business!!!!!!

    Cons

This company is one of the worse place I have ever worked in my 30+ years in construction. I found them to run off of numbers instead of doing a solid project with good customer care. They have to repair and redo things which causes lack of profit. Turn over of staff is high.
The say they are "One Tecta" but only if your in the in crowd. So if you already did High School you may want to re-think working for this organization.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to your customers needs.
Spend sometime training field people because they are everything without them no roof will be done. They are the most important part of the business!!!! Estimators/Salesmen can get the jobs but if your crew isn't able to do things properly it's a losing proposition.
