A lot of changes - for the better

Pros

The National Press Foundation has undergone a lot of changes during my tenure. I look forward to starting work each day, knowing that I am working with an excellent team who cares deeply about the issues facing journalists in today's media landscape.

Cons

Non-profit pay, but that's to be expected. Great benefits and health insurance help balance it out.

Pros

I had incredible experiences with NPF that I never would have had if I didn't work for this important cause. I felt like I was making a difference by helping train journalists on programs all over the U.S. and the world. I was a valuable team member in a very small staff and I met a lot of wonderful people. I felt like I had a purpose and my work mattered. I was very proud of the work I did there.

Cons

Unfortunately, all of my value and self confidence went out the window when NPF hired a new president and COO in 2020. Until NPF replaces their current president, prepare to be micromanaged, overworked and frustrated as an employee. They will not respect your time outside of work and will expect you to be on-call for anything. They never stop working and they drag everyone else into that culture. I would always tell my friends and family that this position was the best thing to ever happen to me. One person was able to morph this thing that I loved into the one thing I dreaded to do every day. NPF is a nonprofit I care very deeply about but until leadership changes are made, it's a lost cause.

Pros

easy workload and some travel.

Cons

Horrible management and environment. No room for growth, and ideas/innovation/ initiative is punished. Dead end job,
