I have been working at Topshop part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-THE PEOPLE! I love the family-like environment that exists among the team
-The discount (4 pieces in a quarter are 60% off)
-Chill work environment with a DJ on weekends (this no longer happens and store is no longer a pleasant place to work in)

    Cons

-Poor communication in terms of KPI's to employees. Most employees have little to no retail experience. How in the world do you expect them to deliver your new standards of service when you aren't even teaching them the basics of retail.
-Management, lower level managers are okay, they can be lazy sometimes but morale is low among everyone. They don't show a love for the brand or company which is why we have poor customer service. Upper level management is a mess, they treat employees like objects that fill the store and do not take the time to get to know us and create relationships. I don't understand how you expect us to pass on positive energy to the thousands of customers that walk through the doors - if you cannot even show compassion for US. You cannot just settle and believe that college kids that need a part time job are lazy and that's it. If you really took time to train people and invest in us- we could do great things. But if you walk around and act like you hate your job.., guess what we will begin to feel.

*I should also add that I have had a great amount of retail experience before TS where managers actually invested in me and took the time to say hello, LEARN MY NAME, and show they see me and appreciate my efforts. I took this position because I was busy with my educational career.

    Advice to Management

Sit and really think about the components to delivering exceptional customer service that you so much strive for. You cannot start to building something great by piling bricks on a poor foundation- after beating the strength out of the foundation. If upper level managers see this, please really sit and think about how you treat employees and how your actions can create a massive effect on the success of the store.

I worked at Topshop full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fashion forward clothes. Most of the people you work with. Experience in retail.

    Cons

Poor upper management. Weak Branding. Almost non-existing HR. Not enough investing in great place to work and grow.

    Advice to Management

Invest more into your own development and then work on the rest of the team. Work smart not hard. When it comes to recruitment, focus on quality not quantity.
