    Pros

The company does very well financially for the most part. It's a dynamic and fun environment. Fast paced, decent technology.

    Cons

benefits are not great especially as compared to other trading companies. Lunch on Wednesday is a perk but not a great one. No matching 401K. Management is rather unstructured.

    Advice to Management

Management needs more structure. Some type of employee development program would be a bonus. Better benefits would keep people around longer.

I have been working at TradeLink full-time

    Pros

Tradelink is a good place for software developers to take on a lot of responsibility. There are interesting projects and no bureaucracy/meetings to worry about. Coworkers in my department are all great and eager to help each other. Office space is nice, the firm buys lunch every Wednesday which is a nice perk. Tradelink is a great place to grow as a developer and learn about trading. Compensation is decent, although benefits are not on par with other Chicago trading/tech companies. Employee turnover is pretty low and work life balance is good which is very important to retaining people.

    Cons

No 401K matching is the biggest con. Wednesday lunches and occasional free snacks are nice, but most companies with this type of talent have better perks. Consider matching some of the benefits of the other companies that are competing for the talent at TradeLink

    Advice to Management

Great job building a diverse range of talents. Upgrade the benefits/in office perks to keep people happy.

I worked at TradeLink full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

People who work here are very smart, diligent and hard-working. The principals of the firm are brilliant and you will have some access to them and their experiences. Excellent place to work if you are dedicated to learning about financial markets and performing at a high level.

    Cons

The base pay is average but you will be incentivized if you perform.

I worked at TradeLink full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A lot of people are giving bad reviews but the thing about TradeLink is that if you consistently perform poorly, you will not stay with the company. I find this to be a "pro" because when you are on a team, you want to be working with the best. The people who did not like working at TradeLink most likely did not perform very well. If you are losing money, you shouldn't expect to stay with a company...

In any case, the people are very smart and the space is probably one of the most interesting in Chicago. Considering how difficult of a time it is, I think they are positioned pretty well.

    Cons

I would have liked to have worked with more multidisciplinary teams. Would be nice to be able to meet people from all over the company.

    Advice to Management

Create teams of people from throughout the company. For example, research teams could learn a lot from working with IT from the beginning of a project.

    Pros

chicago office was super nice, upper management trying to invest and grow the company

    Cons

Most people hate working there. Not a lot of happy people. Technology issues, which hurts people in the trading world.

    Advice to Management

Spend more money on technology and less on nice offices.

    I worked at TradeLink full-time

    Pros

Good hours, free lunch on Wednesdays.

    Cons

Very poor compensation, outdated technology, partners are not open to new ideas and strategies, little collaboration between different groups, no exit opportunities.

    Advice to Management

The partners really need to start rewarding their employees during bonus time. There is a very good reason why they are unable to retain or attract good talent. For example, even though my desk generated seven-figures in net pnl one year, my bonus was not even $10,000 after tax! I cannot think of a single other financial firm where employees are poorly rewarded for their contributions. It's utterly unbelievable. Moreover, the company is not respected in financial circles, so it will be very hard to get another job in the field afterwards. There is virtually no exit opportunities. I sincerely hope that the partners take these reviews seriously before the firm goes bankrupt.
