      Not bad with room for improvement

      Pros

      There is a lot of autonomy, little micromanagement, and the coworkers are nice. The organization seems to be interested in improving.

      Cons

      - The stated core value of "people before profit" isn't quite there. For example, it's not unusual to want to message someone on an adjacent team in Slack, only to find their account deactivated with no announcement. - It's unclear if there is a good long term vision for what TrueNAS should be. Product decisions are often made within Engineering (sometimes by engineers). I think TrueNAS as a product deserves more attention and investment.

      Pros

      The compensation is competitive and the whole benefits package is good Work-life balance is one of the best I've experienced; the team respects personal time. The technical experience and learning has been solid.

      Cons

      The level of support that is expected from a variety of customers is very high.
