I have been working at UCHealth full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, yearly bonus, excellent teamwork among nursing staff

    Cons

Does not pay as well as other hospitals in the area, frequently understaffed with limited resources, the concern for growing the UCHealth system takes precedence over the efficient operation of current facilities

    Advice to Management

Listen to what the staff has to say and make better attempts to improve the current situation.

I have been working at UCHealth full-time

    Pros

    Culture of putting patients first
Good retirement and health benefits, but very poor maternity leave options

    Cons

    1. Minimal maternity leave - 6 weeks of short term disability at 60-70% with option to supplement with PTO is offered. This is significantly less than other companies nationwide. The maternity leave option is a bare minimum and UCHealth avoids providing an true maternity benefit by having new mothers use short term disability. The poor maternity leave is a strong reason that I would consider leaving the organization and would discourage young professionals from working here if they are looking to start a family. The reality of the current option is that new mothers are rushed back to work prematurely, likely with a new baby in day care and no PTO left for Dr. appt or illness since there is no separate sick time or family leave time.
    2. Very poor support for continuing education for our rehab clinical staff.

    Advice to Management

    1. Provide substantial maternity leave. This is an area in which UCHealth has failed to innovate and adapt with the times. Approximately 200 U.S. companies offer 16-52 weeks of paid maternity leave (not disability) to their employees and on a worldwide scale most countries offer even more. Employees would rather receive a true benefit of paid leave with their newborn than an embroidered blanket from the new "Welcome to the Family" initiative.
    2. Provide a realistic budget for continuing education, especially as a teaching hospital with university partnership and with staff whose license renewal has continuing education requirements.

I have been working at UCHealth full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits, co workers, yearly bonus, the patients

    Cons

Favoritism, lack of communication, lack of support, high turn over, lack of ongoing training

    Advice to Management

It would be nice if everyone is treated equally. There is a high turnover rate and its fusturating dor the ones that are sticking around.
