Need more parking and that is about it

I worked at UGI (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Fairly stable work environment and steady income.

    Cons

Management decided to shut down Mchugh Service company and Devault refrigeration putting may people out looking for jobs. The employees were given 3-4 months notice of the shut down but the process was a mess as they tired to finish up contractual obligations on projects that were already in progress.

    Advice to Management

I honestly believe that the shut down was due to management's inability to built or bring new management into place as others retired. Leaders that could cast vision to the management above them.

I worked at UGI (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Utility company so it will be around forever. Multi national. Great benefits. Lots of nice people.

    Cons

No value of employees as people. There is an expectation that your personal life will be put on hold to get work done. There is a lot of favoritism shown

    Advice to Management

Listen more to the employees below upper management. Stop looking for unrealistic budgets so that you can report positive expectations Don't encourage HR to lie to employees.

I have been working at UGI full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Company is on the grow domestically and internationally.
Based on your skill set and the job / position there could be many opportunities available.

    Cons

On comparing with my other employment experiences, employee benefits are somewhat out-of-date for year "1".

I worked at UGI full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

UGI Utilities isn't the company that it use to be. Granted, there are people working there that have been there over 30+ years... but with the recent changes over the last 5 - 6 years, that will quickly change for those who have the skills to find new jobs.

    Cons

At one time UGI Utilities offered a fantastic pension plan... that was ended and they move to a standard 401k. Their health coverage was sub-par at best. Their annual raises do not even keep up with the increases in cost of living - 1 - 1.5% even when the overall rating was exceeds objectives.

    Pros

Good people. Quite a large percentage have been working there for over 25 years.

    Cons

Upper management silos / cliches of power - so often things don't get accomplished.

I have been working at UGI full-time

    Pros

Growing, stable company. Good culture and good people. Senior management very accessible.

    Cons

Lagging a bit on family leave benefits, and resources are tight from growth (but growth is a good thing).

    Advice to Management

Don't burn out your good employees.

    Pros

Good to work for a year and dont stay here any longer. Being a utility it is a stable company.

    Cons

Lots of favoritism and mediocre pay. There is no room to advance . There are continuous organizational announcements . There is no strategy and this company has a high turnover. There is a bonus plan however you never get a bonus even though you are a star performer.

This company is not for star performers and creative folks

    Advice to Management

Engage your employees and give fair pay and bonus. Have a plan for employee advancement. Continuous reorganization in every department is not a very good long term strategy (if there is any strategy)
