I worked at Victaulic (Less than a year)

    Pros

Victaulic is an industry leader with a diverse product portfolio and a loyal customer base. They're deeply committed to delivering value to their customers while also constantly innovating to introduce new products in the marketplace that allow them to grow their market share.

The folks that you work with at Victaulic are all customer focused and willing to go the extra mile for the tight knit team that exists there.

    Cons

The company is small and although this allows you to truly be impactful, it also means that growth opportunities are limited.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management would be to continue to drive innovation and a strong product pipeline as well as to continue to search for new industries to penetrate.

I have been working at Victaulic full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great training and exposure to field sales. You get to touch and be apart of many key business operations.

    Cons

Long work hours, management expects you to call on customers during the day and process administrative work on the weekend and nights. Salary is good but not for what you work.

    Advice to Management

Develop a better work life balance culture.

I worked at Victaulic (Less than a year)

    Pros

Varied experience, international interface, fast and impactful projects, supportive professional environment, hands-on experience, intern development program with housing and travel support, mixed employee backgrounds, subsidized lunches.

    Cons

Demanding work, the traffic in the Lehigh Valley is dangerous.

    Advice to Management

Could be more consistent and work on personal connections as well as production staff interface.

I have been working at Victaulic full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people are fantastic. I've had the honor of meeting some of the most intelligent and capable people at Victaulic. The organization has a huge focus on innovation and constantly invests in product development. Industry leader in piping systems. Management at all levels are quite approachable and friendly. Highly philanthropic organization. The company demonstrates high integrity and sense of responsibility.

    Cons

Not enough opportunities. Highly unclear, and unfair career development. Unclear because there is no obvious career path, except for perhaps in Sales. Unfair because often times, the career moves have more to do with the hiring managers' personal preference for a particular person, or the candidates relationship to another employee in an influential position, and less to do with their educational and experiential background that qualify them for the role. Highly restrictive, autocratic environment. The very intelligent people who are hired are not entrusted with the capability of doing the work without being micromanaged. The work is unnecessarily made to be stressful because of unrealistic deadlines being set by executives who are far removed from the execution and pre-requisites, and unwillingness to change more than processes to accommodate for workload (such as hiring more people, reorganizing teams or responsibilities, reassessing priorities or getting temporary help).

    Advice to Management

If you've hired the right person for the right job, show them that you trust them. If you cannot trust them, don't hire/promote them at all. Stop handing out opportunities to the undeserving, based on who they are, or who they are friends with or related to. Adopt flexibility, trust and openness in the work culture. Allow the people who are executing to tell you what is manageable, and negotiate that reasonably. Invest your time in developing the deserving, who should be future leaders by coaching them rather than managing performance. Recognize and reward your people's successes (as opposed to only Sales getting performance based recognition). Clarify the hierarchy, so people have something to strive for.

I worked at Victaulic (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great reputable company with many locations in the US and abroad. Extremely solvent, competitive and innovative. They are good to their employees and recognize their worth and contribution to the success of the organization. Enjoyed working there very much, and in fact, was ready to settle in and retire there.

    Cons

Management should not comment, or presume a lack of technical ability on the first day of interaction. Nor should they do so if the technical knowledge (of accounting) and know how of a person is not required in the role for which the individual was brought in. Speed and accuracy is always a factor when a person has been out of the role for some time and is unfamiliar with the software? Unfortunately, there will always be a learning curve as well, in this type of scenario. I don't think technical ability or knowledge should be construed by management as non existent in someone simply because they are overly cautious about the task they are given until they are comfortable with the software and confident about what they are doing. I was very much in the know how by the time I left.

I have been working at Victaulic full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

As an employee for over ten plus years, Victaulic has been a great employer. Some of the benefits to working for Victaulic are flexible work schedule, tuition reimbursement, and varying benefit plans to meet your needs. Plus you have the satisfaction knowing that you are working for the world leader in mechanical pipe joining.

    Cons

Having been an employee for over ten years I have seen a lot of changes. Most for the better, some still need to be made however. Some items that need improvement are micromanagement style of managing employees, slow career advancement with little to no career development plans and favoritism.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management, listen to your employees. There needs to be more connection between senior management and employees. The picture painted to them by middle management doesn't always match the employees' sentiment.

    Pros

    Great environment
    Lots of overtime
    Fast paced
    Great benefits
Salary is great once hired on
On site training of all forklifts

    Cons

    No room to advance

    Advancement through favoritism
Promise reward system for employees, but never takes off

I worked at Victaulic (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great work environment, continuing growth and endless opportunities. Like any job, you have to work hard but the end results are always benefiting.

    Cons

Victaulic, having a premium product sell at a premium price. The market is very competitive and can be difficult at times to compete with competitors when they drop the price well under the bid you have for a project. Resulting in losing sales that you worked for.

    Advice to Management

Continue to push employees to reach their goals and see success within the company.
