    I have been working at Virgin Active

    Pros

    I like the people, and my team & co-workers. I enjoy my clients and setting up their workouts. The work is rewarding. I like selling Personal Training, and our goal is to sell the specials offered to new clientele. Converting our complimentary sessions into packages or recurring residual income.

    Cons

    Our specials should include 1 hour sessions, offering specials on 1/2 hour sessions only limits company's profits. Invest more money on decorative & party balloons so that it is seen & is more fun for everyone. Creates a more positive environment.

    Advice to Management

    Create a more positive environement & a fun experience for first timers could sell better. Taking better care of our staff, investing more time to teach the staff would be very productive.

    Pros

    Great team if you are at club level, by far one of the better health club chains out there. Training given is very good

    Cons

    Above club level it becomes a struggle to get any information and you are always being passed from pillar to post. As soon as there is the slightest issue you are contacted and expected to reply back by that close of day. However, the minute you need support back from corporate level it can be days and even weeks before a response is given! That doesn't seem fair.

    Advice to Management

    Go back and look at your teams from a club level perspective. Listen to their struggles and bring back the people focus which was always one of the "Virgin values"

    Poor salary for what the job is.

    Advice to Management

    As a result of poor salaries, the quality of staff also is poor which is a shame for the staff members that really want to progress and do a good job, they are weighed down by others.

    You can train with colleagues and make friends

    Cons

    Base salary is really bad and commissions are hard to get as the targets are always so high. No value for staff - no personal nor professional growth are supported. Really pressure like you are saving the world. It doesn't matter what you do, if you don't sacrifice your whole self for this job, you are not good for them.

    Ask yourself why everyone is leaving! You might not always be right as you think...

    Never, ever bring your personal problems into work. It is unprofessional, and unacceptable, to be rude to staff members and paying members. Our General Manager, in particular, is extremely rude and is not conveying the culture I would imagine the board require within their governance. However, it appears that 'results' ie, revenue comes above respect and all else, therefore it is allowed to continue. As...
