    Pros

I like the people, and my team & co-workers. I enjoy my clients and setting up their workouts. The work is rewarding.
I like selling Personal Training, and our goal is to sell the specials offered to new clientele. Converting our complimentary sessions into packages or recurring residual income.

    Cons

Our specials should include 1 hour sessions, offering specials on 1/2 hour sessions only limits company's profits.
Invest more money on decorative & party balloons so that it is seen & is more fun for everyone. Creates a more positive environment.

    Advice to Management

Create a more positive environement & a fun experience for first timers could sell better. Taking better care of our staff, investing more time to teach the staff would be very productive.

I have been working at Virgin Active full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great team if you are at club level, by far one of the better health club chains out there. Training given is very good

    Cons

Above club level it becomes a struggle to get any information and you are always being passed from pillar to post.
As soon as there is the slightest issue you are contacted and expected to reply back by that close of day. However, the minute you need support back from corporate level it can be days and even weeks before a response is given! That doesn't seem fair.

    Advice to Management

Go back and look at your teams from a club level perspective. Listen to their struggles and bring back the people focus which was always one of the "Virgin values"

I have been working at Virgin Active full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people, if you are looking for a company to help to progress you then Virgin Active is the place. However, be ready to move around from club to club if progression is your goal.

    Cons

The company is at an awkward stage where it isn't sure where to fit in the market. Hopefully things settle after the sales of clubs to David Lloyd have gone through.

    Advice to Management

Stay true to the values that Virgin preach. Head office could be a lot more present in the club. There is a feel at club level that head office is a secondary company that work along side the clubs not in partnership with them.

I worked at Virgin Active part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Best pro is definitely the free membership. Part time hours were flexible, pay is okay though I am a student.

    Cons

Work was monotonous but so is every cleaning job. You are given a rigorous cleaning schedule to stick to which is easy to get through so leaves you with nothing to do a lot of the time.

    Advice to Management

Change cleaning schedules. Lunch breaks also far too long (at one hour, unpaid), so you end up staying at work for 9 hours + for an 8 hour shift. Working day is very long.

I worked at Virgin Active (Less than a year)

    Pros

Higher rate of pay for under-25s (£7.20 at age 18), easy work, nice staff

    Cons

High turnover, very disorganised management, RUDE customers, sometimes unsociable hours. Management messing up payroll is/was a regular occurrence and I heard a few stories of them owing former employees, especially young ones, money
