    Pros

Awesome methodology, great energy, an amazing family environment and you feel like you are helping future generations.

    Cons

The business today is having to make large cut backs. The company is not as national as it once was. There used to be much opportunity to move and move up internally, but it's hard to get a foot in the door as a new employee and stay there.

    Advice to Management

Bring the company into the 21st century by upping the technological side of things. Have the option of direct deposit.

    Pros

Working with At-Risk youth in need.

    Cons

This organization has declined over the years due to brand new management that is only interested in placing at-risk youth for the bottom line...money. Pay is always late and they do not honor their employees or the customers we work for as they do not provide the services they promise. Company has been in financial trouble for over ten years and the PA budget issues have only compacted the problem. I would not recommend this company to anyone as you will not be respected or have job security under new management.

    Advice to Management

New Management should research the history of this once valued Company and it's foundation. The "bottom line" sales pitch you do not back up may "make the sale", however, you will not "keep the sale", if you do not follow through with what the bottom line should be: customer service and programming for the youth we serve. You cannot sell a product that you don't even have to sell. Empty promises equal empty outcomes and only the youth will suffer.

I worked at VisionQuest full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The CEO and all the higher ups were encouraging, and created a very relaxed working environment. I honestly felt like I was part of a team bent on making a positive difference in kids' lives, which was great.

    Cons

Given the field (juvenile justice) and given the lack of funding, there is going to be stress. Overall, I think this company handled that stress well, at least during the time that I was there.

    Advice to Management

With whatever comes, never lose sight of the kids you're serving, as well as the case managers, therapists, and group home leaders who work with the kids every day.

I worked at VisionQuest full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Providing services with the intent to reach youth therapeutically is the reward in showing up to work. There are periodically some fun activities to break up the monotony for youth and staff.

    Cons

Low wages, below standard benefits. NO salary increases, in fact, they reduced salaries. No room for growth. Dysfunctional leadership; nepotism, favoritism, power struggles, and back-stabbing. Watch out for those bus wheels.

    Pros

I liked the family feel within the office and the location proximity to my home.

    Cons

There are not many ways to move up within the company without the back door politics. IHD is a joke and the City of Philadelphia should have shut that division down many years ago! Hopefully they at least go rid of Steve Harmon (hopefully) his throwing chairs antics, yelling, and manipulating stats and numbers should have been numbered! I didn't like accruing "paid time off". It was so difficult building time especially if you have children. 7 hours accrued each pay period.

    Advice to Management

Staff policy could really use a revised handbook!
