I have been working at Walker Methodist full-time

    Pros

Directors are willing to work all shift and in any department that needs a hand. I have personally seen the DOH, HSD, LIfe enrichment Director, and Maintenance Director help or work a NOC shift. Current staff is happy and there is such a positive atmosphere. Love the residents and the can do-can help attitude I see. Residents love it here they share this whenever asked.

    Cons

New building so there are some kinks to work out and challenges as it continues to grow.

    Advice to Management

Keep up what you are doing we feel valued and heard.

I worked at Walker Methodist full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The hourly staff members who show up everyday to do the hard work, knowing that they will be short staffed.

    Cons

Empty promises made by leadership teams to residents. Not equipped enough to handle staff shortages. High turn over compared to length of time it takes to hire. Staff members consistently covering multiple shifts due to a lack of staffing. Human resources slow to source qualified candidates. Low pay for hourly workers that are not competitive with the market. required to generate revenue in order to buy equipment which is needed to operate. Broken systems that do not clearly define the expectation of the employer. Lack of training and poor management.

    Advice to Management

Give people the tools they need to succeed. Listen to your staff members. Learn to actually implement your vision. Remember collaboration means not being afraid to get dirty, to work next to all of your staff and to empathize with them. Respect means listening, understanding, and having admiration for those who show up everyday. Imagination means means actually creating new ideas, and concepts that further your vision. Creating an environment that is solely focuses on the quality of life for residents as well as staff.

Help people help you! The greatest asset to any business is your staff! If you make everyone expendable, you will have low employee retention.

    Learn to Care!!!!

I worked at Walker Methodist full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    The residents were lovely

    Cons

Older employees treat the younger ones like their slaves while also refusing to help out at all. Most of the nurses treat the NAR’s and residents like they are beneath them and when reported nothing gets done.

I have been working at Walker Methodist full-time

    Pros

What pros?!?! They want you to at least enter 5 words. WOW

    Cons

Management is HORRIBLE. You will feel valued at first but then if you question anything or you stand up to any of the Directors you will become a target. They will gossip about you, they will use you to work Many extra hours because the directors are too lazy and will not want to work! they contradict there morales and there mission. You are just a number to them and no matter if you work for them for 20+ years or 6 months they will throw you away like trash. Loyalty means nothing. I have seen and heard things that should never be talked about on the floor or go beyond management and talked about to employees. It saddens me to say that I would never put a loved one here or work for a company like this ever again. Best of luck to you if you decide to take a position here.

    Advice to Management

Hire Educated Directors. It all begins with the leadership team if that’s poison your whole community becomes poison.

I worked at Walker Methodist full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    The residents and their families

    Cons

Management's immaturity and failure to demonstrate quality leadership.

    Advice to Management

Management practices of: lying, spying, gossip and pitting staff against each other; disparaging remarks about other coworkers stated in the open for all to hear, is unnecessary and damaging to the culture of Walker Methodist. The focus should have been on fostering a healthy working environment to better serve the residents. Instead, a culture of mistrust and chaos was created-even encouraged, making it one of the most unpleasant and unhealthiest places to work-ever.
