I worked at Warren Distribution (More than 5 years)

    Pros

It filled a void when I needed a position

    Cons

Was with the company for five years and continued to receive the same pay-I understand that at the beginning our country was in a financial turmoil but things have changed - however, Warren has not. They continue to pay their employees the SAME wages as when times were desperate and people would take a job at ANY rate just to stay alive.

    Advice to Management

ADJUST to the TIMES and ECONOMY accordingly. Just because this country WAS in a recession; does not give those in California (who are paid substantially more) the right to maintain ALL wages for all employees the same - when other companies are increasing wages and WalMart is closing in on some of the positions that require knowledge, certification, expertise at Warren. I could have said Paper or Plastic and had a GED and earned about the same. Warren NEEDS to keep their employees HAPPY, even a simple token raise, a Christmas Ham - any thing to show them that they are appreciative that they lived through the TOUGH years with them and continued to GROW their company - but instead the HEAD guys raise their salaries and the rest of the company continues to remain stagnant at their hiring rate for over 5 years.

I have been working at Warren Distribution full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There are a few good hearted, hard working, and honest people who work on the floor. Despite the lack of manager guidance, direction, and mentoring, the floor supervisors do their best to accommodate the needs of the floor workers.

    Cons

Toxic, negative and vindictive place to work. Drama consistently flows throughout the packaging floor. Management looks the other way when concerns are communicated, but then blame the floor supervisors, operators, or line workers when those same concerns become real issues and problems. Management says they are transparent, but then fails to communicate important information. There are numerous safety policies in place and not enforced. The supervisors who care for the safety and welfare of their workers are criticized for being too harsh or strict. Training lacks any consistency and changes too often to expect new associates to effectively learn their job within the allotted time span.

    Advice to Management

Replace mid-level managers with those that will actually be concerned with and do the job. Start listening and communicating on a consistent basis with those that work on the floor. Replace your self-centered, egotistical attitudes with a real, caring, deep concern for the well-being of those people that actually make the money for the company.

    Pros

none, would not work with again.

    Cons

Takes several weeks to process new hire paperwork. Very difficult to schedule orientation before you start working as a tutor. Orientation must be completed before you can be assigned students which takes even longer. Hard to get a hold of on the phone. $10 per hour.

  9. "Steady work for pay that can pay the bills, good place to work in a recession, but not a long term experience."

Current Employee - Maintenance Mechanic in Council Bluffs, IA

    Pros

    Job Security
Pay is decent for what you have to do
HR department is generally very good at addressing employee concerns, but this does create a toxic blame game environment

    Cons

Poor communication between management and employees and poor communication from employee to employee, not much continuity. Logistics are poor regarding production schedule and procuring materials and supplies.

    Advice to Management

Be careful who is selected to fill management positions and ensure that candidates are qualified for the position based upon merit and credentials and not based on who they are friends with.

Also, management (at least at the supervisor level) needs to do a better job of not assigning work to employees that is not that employees' responsibility or is beneath them.
