I worked at Wing Tai full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

If you love fashion and the world of retail, this is the place for you. Colleagues are generally pleasant to work with but not the most competent ones.

    Cons

Helen Khoo (Executive Director) calls the shot for everything. If you're in her good book, you're golden. Otherwise, your days are numbered. Helen makes business decision at her own whims and fancy that includes bringing in brands with no market fit. These brands are operating at a loss; and eventually have to be written off (a big hit in the P&L). But Helen gets away with murder because the Chairman absolve her for any wrongdoing and blatant mismanagement of the company.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Wing Tai full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Staff discount and strong company background

    Cons

You need to be in the top management good books otherwise what you do will be considered as wrong. There is no point working hard and giving your opinion because this old school management only believes in themselves. The downfall of many brands is caused by the people who managed it. It is a toxic working culture led by the Head of the Company (Executive Director) who needs to step down and let new blood run the business.

I have been working at Wing Tai full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Fair benefits and welfare package. Rigid but still have some investment in employee growth and learning.

    Cons

Trying environment and still predominantly local SME culture where bosses are top down. Also very slow promotion rate.

    Advice to Management

Give more autonomy to middle managers and be more open to new ideas

I worked at Wing Tai part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Amazing 30% staff discount since I was with the Malaysian branch (Topshop UK only gives employees 25%), paid sick leave even for part timers, lovely coworkers, exciting and fun environment everyday, uniform allowance aka free clothes (a perk Topshop UK and many other retail stores don't offer!)

    Cons

Working hours can be long and boring sometimes if you're given the same task for the entire shift, job rotation doesn't happen often so I was fairly bored for the first few months doing the same thing

    Advice to Management

Switch up the tasks for employees and don't have them doing the same thing everyday
