Pros

If you like an old fashioned approach to working this is defiantly the firm for you. Good pay. Real promotion possibilities.

Cons

The firm is stuck in the past. They make all the right noises around how they should treat their staff, but in reality i have found it to be a spiteful petty environment to work in. There is an expectation that staff work very long hours, including weekends and holidays, in order to be considered to be worthy of recognition. There are lots of younger staff and it encourages a school type environment which results in immature behaviour such as gossiping.

Pros

Support your AAT and ACCA studies Had/Have very good friendly people and nice to work with Great location in town Good Christmas parties, plus all is paid for, so that is very nice

Cons

It is like modern day slavery and im not even exaggerating, overloaded constantly with work because of that they have promoted some very poor choice of people to management, that not only don't know the work well but also have no people skills. Always under staffed as people don't want to work there. Poor training again all because not enough time to sit with you for the whole day, most of the time thrown at the deep end. Company makes money on property managers but majority are straight fresh from Uni so some of them even ask the client accountants what needs to be done, so not enough you need to know the finance area but also need to understand more than just basic things in property management, because even if as a client accountant you had anything to down with error and the data meant to be provided by PM side you still get penalized for that, only one or two managers that work there would defend you, rest won't defend their own team. Lots of partners there but even if you speak to them, they all say what you want to hear but no actions taken. Regarding study support, once you leave they want all of the money paid straight away rather than agree on monthly installments in our times which is the most simple thing! - yes very difficult to work with or agree on any common sense agreements. Lots of favoritism going on there, like i know bonuses is not a must by a company so it is their initiative but they will pay some minimum percent so they could pay bit more to others even though all departments mega busy and work to their best, that applies across the board. Majority salaries are not even meeting the criteria for average Swindon salary based on UK council stats. Job as a client accountant is not advertised right, i know back in 2018 they have changed it a bit. They as a company not flexible at all! Like you can work extra hours and no one will say thank you for that, unless you are working with a nice client and some of them only will appreciate that but as soon as you came late because of hospital appointment or anything to do with your child they will point it out to you that you need to make up the 30min even though you already gave extra 3h this week. No flexibility with holidays too, unless you are someone's favorite then you can do whatever you want and even take holidays on reporting days which was never allowed! Part timers are not welcomed there however one or two people can leave work an hour or two earlier for their kids but others can't. This is one is a fact but due to privacy reasons no names will be named. Regarding nice people working there, yes it was but since 2017 when i have left the client accounting teams have changed like about 3-4 times now...

Pros

Partners and senior members of staff are really approachable and the work itself is interesting, there’s opportunity to move around the business, nice offices & regular socials

Cons

Left the company due to bullying and absolutely nothing was done about it, if you act innocent or have been at the company years you will take first priority, after reading other reviews it seems like a similar environment across other branches
