I have been working at Xerium full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and enjoyed working with the individuals in Middletown, VA.

    Cons

Communication from Corporate office to the plants are lacking. Raises for salaried employees seldom happens on annually, along with decreasing benefits.. Concerns and complaints are not addressed. Recognition and appreciation at the plant level is not given.

    Advice to Management

Decreasing benefits and lack or raises tends to leave employees feeling unappreciative.

I have been working at Xerium (More than a year)

    Pros

The corporate offices are nice. Management tries to compensate with light perks like subsidized lunches, gym, free fancy coffee.

    Cons

People are spread way too thin. Jobs are being eliminated but the work isn't. More work being spread to fewer and fewer people. Turnover seems to be high. Most people burn out quickly (12 mths ave) and leave. Office politics proliferate. Women don't seem to be treated very well at this company. No company culture. People can act any way they want to others with no consequences.

I have been working at Xerium full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Autonomy (nearly anarchy). A workout room on-site. A lunch break of an hour or so.

    Cons

A culture of upper management "Protecting themselves at all costs". Regular reductions of benefits for employees. A climate of fear and paranoia.

    Advice to Management

Resign. Please cede your position to upper managers more inclined to support the employees. Restore benefits to the 2010 level.

I worked at Xerium full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, 40 hours every week. They give you holidays off and overtime comes quite often. Big facility. Work is not hard

    Cons

Unorganized. The supervisors do not communicate shift to shift. Heavy pulling. Team work community is less than efficient there. Alot of seniors working there.

    Pros

The employees you work with day in and day out are a good group of people.

    Cons

It seems as if upper management doesn't really know what they won't done and instead of saying "we're not sure" or something to that affect, they will put it off on someone else like its their fault. Not a good work life balance.

    Advice to Management

Show your employees that you actually care and maybe they won't mind working so much.

I worked at Xerium full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A good number of seasoned professionals in many positions

    Cons

In some departments, no employee career development. Way too much day-to-day focus. People get let go to meet budgets without regard to long-term impact and harm to morale.

    Advice to Management

Talk to employees about career paths and where department/company are going.

    Pros

Information sharing and benchmarking across the globe was pretty good, but could have been better.
Able to make changes and feel like you're making a difference.
Nice people in the company. Plant I was at had a family feel to it.
CEO has set a good direction.
Strategy for growing the business is to develop new products and reduce "trapped cash".

    Cons

Upper management shifts, company let go of some good people and some people left because they were underpaid, myself included.
No rewards for a job well done at the plant level, but upper management gets all the reward and glory.
Not enough information sharing. Some plants are miles ahead of others.

    Advice to Management

To keep qualified people you need to pay them what they're worth. Reward them for a job well done. No incentive to stick around. Seems like all the rewards are at the top.

With plants making the same things, you should do more information sharing. Especially when there's a big difference in performance from plant to plant. Need to bring them up to speed by sending technical folks from other plants to the under performing plants and vice versa.

Strategy that's been set is good, but implementation needs help.
