I have been working at bswift full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Company culture is great. Great co-workers, great facility, great amenities.

    Cons

Tough to move up past account manager role as there are limited positions. If you have a hands off manager, they are not there to support you and they don't really understand how the operations work and thus they don't know how to manage client expectations, internal expectations, etc. They ask for people to step up to work on new projects / products, but they don't account for the amount of time it takes to implement...

    Advice to Management

If you know you have bad middle management, then do a training or fire them. There shouldn't be an excuse that they manage people if they don't know how. Their negligence affects those who are under them as the metrics are not adjusted.

I have been working at bswift full-time for more than a year

    Pros

the people are the best part—young, smart workforce who support each other

    Cons

the industry flux is pretty awful. essentially boring march-august, and overwhelming come september-february. turnover is high which causes burnout on other employees who fill in for their teams. it’s a bad cycle that’s hard to fix, being that working in insurance will always have a “busy” and “slow season”. management puts a lot of work weight on to analysts and account managers who receive very little credit in return,...

    Advice to Management

promote your analysts faster since they leave anyways (usually before or right after promotion). they get too burnt out in the analyst role without a chance of promotion for on average, 2 years...and since there’s a need for account managers anyway—why keep hiring outside the company? stop hiring remote CRMs; their impact is not felt by the rest of the teams.

    I worked at bswift

    Pros

Good location - right above the Metra in west loop

    Cons

Very young environment- kids just out of college already causing drama. Too much external hire, no focus on current achieving employees. Low salary - No matter how well you do, a year and a half has to pass before talking about a promotion in the direct market. Management - act like they listen but do nothing about anything you suggest or say (only have their own mindset). Promise things but never follow-up. If you show...

    Advice to Management

Keep your promises, show more detailed approach on how you will handle those promises. Don’t cheat your employees by not fulfilling those promises. Be more aware of those who overachieve, don’t just let others use them for their creativity and take credit for their work. Promote within, those within know the system better than any external hire. Hiring externally for higher positions will slow down the process which...

I have been working at bswift full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Great work environment and people

    Cons

Opportunities to move up are not easy to come by. Reason so many people leave within two years.

    Advice to Management

Promote from within opposed to hiring people that are remote as there is a learning curve and the burden of that person is distributed to the rest of the account team

I have been working at bswift full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Flexible PTO and remote working policies. Very familial relationship with team members (and certain managers).

    Cons

I don’t know where to begin. The technology team has gone completely downhill while everyone is suffering in silence. ALL ideas are top-down. Countless amounts of employees have left for greener pastures in 2019 alone. The company’s processes are changing for the worst. Those who leave show signs of a weight being lifted off their shoulders as they leave out the door. I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone. There...
