    Pros

Good benefits. Paid well. Good working environment. Nice people. No politics. Good company to work for 1-3 years.

    Cons

Although there is unlimited PTO, work-life balance is non-existent. Expect you to work long working hours in office, at home, or on vacation (plus even weekends). Unable to do work efficiently because there is no standard process (everything is a hectic mess) and company acts like a start-up even if they have been around for approximately almost 20 years. Burnout from the piled-on tasks, especially the tasks that has nothing to do with your job title and job description as well. No career path. Management gets away with everything. Horrible IT department that does not know how to do anything and are not resourceful.

I have been working at eSilicon full-time

    Pros

    established company; ok working atmosphere

    Cons

3 cast company: executive staff, engineering, and all others. If you're not in the first 2, your chances are pretty limited.

    Advice to Management

Listen to what employees are saying, not what you want to hear.

  3. "OK experience as a high school IT intern"

    Pros

I learned a lot, and was able to work on a real project that could potentially benefit the company. Everyone was very friendly, and it was a good work environment.

    Cons

I was left mostly to myself, without much guidance as a high school intern. I think I was a little young to be interning at this company, but I would have appreciated more management and help.

I have been working at eSilicon full-time

    Pros

I have 20+ years MS Windows experience and also a very dedicated system admin. Looking for a new opportunity to apply what I have learned the past years.

    Cons

working in a company for over 15 years makes me too comfortable in one place. Not much chance to work on unix/linux side is also one thing that I missed due to division of duties.

    Advice to Management

I am a very dedicated employee who works hard and eager to help users to get their jobs done. With my experience and eager to learn attitude, I will fit in different environments in this fast moving IT industry.

I worked at eSilicon (More than a year)

    Pros

Everyone works really hard. Not too much politics, because everyone is working really hard.

    Cons

Everyone works really hard. No salary increases for 3 years. Long days 12+ hours per day. No bonus. No 401k matching. Mandatory use of vacation at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Constant threat of layoff. Company strategy changes all the time.

    Advice to Management

Notice who is doing the real work and reward them and not yourselves

I have been working at eSilicon full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

eSilcion has a great family-like environment; the people are talented and passionate about the work that they do. Technology we work on is interesting and benefits are good. Love my team.

    Cons

Old-fashioned mentality, not really agile. Has potential to be a great employer, but lacks an overall attractive work culture/atmosphere due to constant budget cutting.

    Advice to Management

Employee morale is important! Young talent is key for bringing in new ideas and providing succession.

I worked at eSilicon full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some very talented people at the mid-management level.

    Cons

Very bad executive team. They often fire underlings to cover for their own mistakes. Very long work hours. Way too much favoritism. Very political and hostile work environment. It has been trying to go public for 15 years without success. Board of Directors is unwilling to make the needed changes.

    Advice to Management

    Replace the executive team ASAP!

I have been working at eSilicon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pays well. Mostly friendly people. Benefits were good, and if your spouse already has benefits, then you can take cash in lieu of medical/dental benefits which is very nice.

    Cons

Don't be fooled by receiving many stock options. These are only good if they go public, and they have been trying to reach that point for 14 years.

I worked at eSilicon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They do very good work on a technical level. Pay is actually OK.

    Cons

Poisonous office culture. Works people to the bone. Cost cutting mentality. Out of touch executives.

Plus, the industry is moving against them. As the number of startup semi's decreases, the pool of potential customers decrease.
