We're having a bit of an arms race here at Alert. Last week Julian made omelets (complete with menu!) while we rearranged all 100 cubies. Not to be outdone, this week Matt and Dave made waffles and pancakes. We just haven't quite figured out how to deliver breakfast to Alertians working offsite.
It's incredibly exciting to see our first system up, running, and picking orders. However, there's no standing around and watching, we're already well underway on our second installation. It takes an incredible team to go from concept to reality in under 2 years.
Our mission at Alert is to improve people’s live through innovation…, but we’re certainly not above improving our own lives with someone else’s innovation! One of our core values is The Golden Rule; treat others as you would like to be treated. Although our company-wide lunches are an invaluable part of our culture, we realized we were making tons of waste every day, and a lot of that was from seltzer water cans. We were generating about 15,000 empty cans per year, and that number grows with every new Alertian. Just as we don’t want others making unnecessary waste that ultimately impacts the environment, we are responsible for the waste we create.
That’s why we opted for Bevi, the smart water cooler. Gone are the 15,000 cans. We now fill our super cool Alert mugs using our own water lines to create customizable still and sparkling flavored water on demand. Mission and values are only as powerful as the actions and behaviors that uphold them. Reducing waste is just one way we’re doing that.
And.... the CEO and CDO are not exempt!
We’re committed to the concept of teaming, and the best teams are made up of individuals from all different walks of life. How do we know we’ve got a diverse group… just look at our lunchroom wall! From mountain biking to chickens, trains to coffee, we’ve got at least one of every kind (working on two in case of flooding).
