On Wednesday, December 4 BISSELL celebrated our 3rd quarter new hires with a social hour in their honor. This was a great opportunity to meet our new Associates and enjoy holiday themed karaoke!
On Monday, November 25, BISSELL completed their 2019 Associate Engagement Survey with a 90% global participation rate! Thank you to all Associates that participated and provided feedback. We look forward to diving in deeper!
On Monday, April 22, BISSELL celebrated Earth Day! Along with millions of people around the globe, we dedicated the day to raise awareness of our environmental impact. It’s so important to BISSELL that we even have it as the focus of one of our Core Values of Social Responsibility! The theme of Earth Day 2019 is "Protect Our Species" which goes along perfectly with our love of pets. Together, we can make a difference!
On Tuesday, October 16, the BISSELL Digital Investment Group (DIG) put on a day long Digital Forum. Associates were shown fun and interactive presentations highlighting teams across the company who have made progress toward their digital improvement goals. Some examples include Advanced Analytics, Development & Design, and a "Don't Get Hacked" demonstration from the IT group. It was a great way to see how teams are improving our digital presence!
The 58th Annual Golden Pin Dinner took place on Thursday, October 4 in the BISSELL Cafeteria. Over 80 Retirees and current BISSELL Associates with 20+ years of service gathered for a festive night of great food and friendship. The night was a success due to the hard work of the BISSELL cafeteria staff, volunteers, and speakers. Congratulations to the honorees and many thanks to the volunteers!
BISSELL turned 142 this week! We know, we’re old… and we’re proud of it! BISSELL was founded in 1876 by Melville and Anna Bissell. Their goal… to solve the simple problem of sawdust around their crockery shop. Intuitive and innovative, Melville invented and patented a one-of-a-kind carpet sweeper. After friends and customers of the shop wanted to buy the sweeper, a business was born. We are so proud to still be a family company 142 years past inception. Our values have remained the same over the last century plus, and we are delighted to be dedicated to our customers and consumers and continue our history of philanthropy. From carpet sweepers to carpet cleaners, our floor cleaning products have come a long way. Carpet cleaners, vacuums, and hard floor cleaners, along with those carpet sweepers that we still produce, have evolved throughout our history. We can’t wait to be a part of the next 142 years of innovative home cleaning. Thank you to all our dedicated followers for your support.
On Thursday, July 12th, BISSELL hosted a Network of Executive Women (NEW) event at our headquarters in Grand Rapids, Mi. This was a special learning event discussing intentional personal branding, navigating transitions in your career and the competencies that set you up for professional success. The primary speaker was NEW CEO, Sarah Alter, who shared her personal career journey, discussed how she manages and extends her personal brand and how she has successfully navigated major pivot points in her career and life. Thanks for all who attended and contributed to make it a great event!
Last month the BITCo team spent an afternoon volunteering at one of the largest pet shelters in The Netherlands. The shelter, which looks after dogs, cats and small rodents has hard floors so all our steam products (and the team!) got a great workout. Thanks to our BITCo team for their hard work and enthusiasm in cleaning the shelter. We know that the shelter’s staff, volunteers and pets appreciate the efforts - and their new BISSELL machines!
