Blessing Hospital has achieved Magnet recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the highest national honor awarded for nursing excellence. Of the more than 63-hundred hospitals in the country, only 591 organizations, or 9.4%, hold Magnet recognition. The announcement of Blessing’s achievement was made by the ANCC on Monday, July 25.

This national distinction recognizes the hospital’s achievements in protecting patients from harm and providing safer health care. This data on which the spring grade is based was collected immediately prior to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois has recognized Blessing Hospital with a Blue Distinction® Centers (BDC) for Maternity Care designation, as part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program. To earn the designation, Blessing Hospital’s maternity care team met or exceeded quality selection criteria set by the BDC program. Those designated as Blue Distinction Centers show statistically significant differences in key clinical outcomes compared to their peers and demonstrate better quality and improved outcomes for patients.
