"Today, my family and I came together to decorate our home with a Christmas tree, providing a moment to reflect on the passing year. I had "one tiny" challenge this year—migration of internal services from the on-premise servers to the cloud. Some services were written in C, others in Python 2, and had some bugs with physical consequences and, of course, without tests and documentation. At the end of the year, Everything is written on Go and running in Google Kubernetes Engine without annoying bugs, with tests and onboarding documentation. We survived Black Friday without incidents. From this experience, I gained insight into the importance of having the right people in the right roles, surpassing the significance of technology. As a team, we accomplished the successful migration—a collective achievement. I'm pleased to contribute as a member of the Boozt team. New year, new challenges!" Denis Nichiporenko
"Just had a great time delving into the exciting updates in Symfony and PHP at SymfonyCon Brussels 2023 together with Chintushig Ochirsukh and Viktor Pikaev. Meeting up with fellow enthusiasts from the Symfony/PHP community in person made the experience even more rewarding. And of course we enjoyed the friendly atmosphere of Brussels, with its warm vibes and festive Christmas markets. Looking forward to more enriching experiences within the Symfony/PHP ecosystem." "On Monday, I experienced every developer's worst nightmare - I applied a change that deleted not one, but two GCP production projects, where a lot of our transformed and published data resides. This post is not about how that could even happen, but the aftermath. You see, our SRE team at Boozt responded to my request for help immediately, and we managed to recover and stabilise within an hour. During this process, NO ONE put blame on me for what happened - all that mattered was the problem at hand and how to solve it. It's not a goal for us to have a zero error culture. It's a goal for us to develop, and learn from our mistakes. This is also why I, after what is definitely the largest fuck up in my professional career, got the Jedi award a second time, due to how this was handled (and onboarding two new people at the same time)! I'm so glad to be in a company that recognises employee achievements, even when they make mistakes. 🖤" Nina Jensen
At Boozt tech is at the core of our business. We design and develop almost all of our systems in-house and we have more than 200 developers spread across five offices. This week we gathered 80 developers from our WEB and APP branches in Copenhagen to code and solve problems together in order to foster individual growth, cultivating curiosity and empowering individuals.
"Despite the competition breathing down their neck, Danish-Swedish clothing giant Boozt has managed to become one of the fastest growing e-commerce companies in the Nordics. But success comes with hard work and a work culture that isn't for everyone. Boozt's co-founder and CEO, Hermann Haraldsson, is well aware of this. Get to know the business, the culture and the Icelandic CEO better in this special edition, where we also take a closer look at a very different Boozt that a decade ago was on the brink of collapse."
