Who doesn’t like to celebrate their successes? And what better way to do it than in a true Scandinavian fashion with cake - cheesecake! 🍰 When Boozt was founded back in 2011, we were only a few employees, and as we went through challenging times, we started a tradition to celebrate the successes we had. Every time we broke a record, we ordered cheesecake from a bakery in the centre of Malmö - and we still do to this day. Because as we know there is a new battle to be fought tomorrow, so we need to remember to celebrate our victories.
In August, we welcomed our colleagues back from vacation with the initiative ‘Inspired with Boozt’ - a series of social events designed to inspire and empower Boozters. With weekly activities such as “Lunch with the CEO”, Boozt Breakfast, seminars and leadership talks on highly relevant topics from various Boozt colleagues, we want to encourage knowledge sharing and Boozters to take the opportunity to socialise and catch up across teams. We look forward to many more events in the coming weeks! See what we have been up to here -->
Throwback to the time we got public listed on Nasdaq Stockholm 🔔 In 2017, Boozt was listed on Nasdaq OMX Stockholm. We are actually one of few companies with a dual listing, as we were also listed on Nasdaq OMX Copenhagen in 2020. Getting to the Bell Ceremony at Nasdaq Stockholm’s headquarters was no easy journey, involving a lot of traveling around the world meeting with potential investors. But in the end all this hard work paid off when Hermann, our CEO, rang the bell at the stock exchange, signaling that with the listing of our shares, Boozt became independent from private equity. This marked a change and was a confirmation of not only our business model and vision, but also our foundation, values and the team. Being listed allows us to attract capital more easily, which is occasionally needed either to support our continued growth or in case we acquire other companies. Equally important, it helps us reach new customers and enhance Boozt’s brand image, particularly in Sweden and Denmark.
Sustainability Criteria for Textiles 🧵 We want to make sustainable choices easier for our customers, which is why we are thrilled to see that the demand for products in our Made with Care category is growing. It is crucial for us that this category represents a genuine systemic change in production patterns and the socio-environmental impact of textile’s production and consumption. To ensure a reliable, transparent, traceable, and genuine assortment we continuously work with developing and reviewing our sustainability criteria that rely intensely on globally recognised certifications, as well as extensive data collection within environmental, social, and chemical areas. At Boozt, all we ask is for you to be yourself 🤩 At 38 nationalities and a 63/37% female/male gender ratio, we know that we come to work with different backgrounds and ways of solving tasks. However, we believe, diversity plays a big part in our success as a company. Different perspectives give way to great ideas. With an open-mind and the courage to embrace new perspectives from our colleagues, we are not afraid to try out new ideas or fail-fast. That is how we learn and how we improve. Therefore, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive culture, where our Boozters have the chance to be the best version of themselves.
Ideally, onboarding should be a smooth and easy process. That is why, it is important to rethink the process if it is not working efficiently. That is what we did, when we found out that onboarding developers had become more complicated than necessary. We created a CLI binary using Go as the chosen technology. Because the problem with onboarding developers was setting up their environment, we built a tool to automatically set it up without much interaction, bootstrapping data and running any prep scripts and commands needed etc. The technology allows us to install the proper tools, in versions that we know work, and to run them in the same way across different machines. When things break or don’t work, we can debug known environments, instead of first having to establish what is installed on the machine. In this way, we can make sure our developers environment works and don’t waste their time or motivation. Read more about how we used technology to help onboard developers here:
Meet our Boozter - Raymond Benc How do our values Trust, Freedom and Responsibility play into your everyday work? “The values are very evident in the platform team. We want newcomers to deploy something on the website within the first two weeks, which shows from the beginning that we place a lot of trust in our developers. Additionally, at Boozt we do not test our peers code but simply do a peer-to-peer code review. The main selling point is that we don’t have a Quality Assurance department or team in the webshop and this allows us to deploy very fast on a daily basis. This is one of the coolest things when working at Boozt as a developer as we don’t have the extra overhead of waiting for QA to test code and purely rely on our Trust, Freedom, and Responsibility of the developer to make sure they test their code before deploying.” Curious on Raymond’s journey within Boozt and what some of his career lessons are? Want to know more about where we are located? Here you go! 🎇 We have 5 offices located in 4 different countries. While our headquarter in Hyllie, Sweden, is a mix of different departments, our offices in Denmark, Lithuania and Poland are dedicated to our platform teams, working on different aspects of our business. As we are a company based on own-developed technology, we are always trying to come up with new technology solutions for our business operations. Therefore, our office in Copenhagen, Denmark, is called Boozt Innovation Lab. They are working in collaboration with the business, but more autonomous than our other tech hubs to ensure more progressive thinking, experimenting with technologies such as augmented reality, voice control and next-generation UI, to improve the experience of our platforms for our customers and brand partners.
MEET OUR BOOZTER - INTERVIEW WITH OUR NEW CSCO Meet our new Chief Supply Chain Officer, Sven Thiesen, who has recently joined our Group. He has formerly managed fulfillment and supply chain operations at Amazon, Zalando, and Zalando Lounge. We sat down with Sven to hear about how to scale logistics, manage rapid growth while sustaining a best-in-class customer experience and reducing our carbon footprint at the same time. We want to become the leading Nordic Department store. What do you think will enable Boozt to reach our goal? “Execution power, speed, and convenience will be key factors. We are also good at understanding the dynamics in the market, and customer sentiments. We are already delivering best-in-class customer experience amongst our peers, and if we are able to stay consistent with that, then we have a great head start.” Read the full interview here →
