The summer holiday is right around the corner, and we are beyond excited! ⛱☀ During July, Boozt, like many other companies, experiences a slow period, while most of our employees are out on holiday. At Boozt, our employees benefit from having 25 paid vacation days. These they can use whenever they want during the year, and many use some of them during the summer. We hope everyone will enjoy their summer holiday! 🌊
We want to be the leading responsible e-commerce in the Nordics 🌍. We use our industry-leading position and technology platform to push for a more sustainable and transparent industry. We are on a journey, constantly working towards our goals. Follow the link below and watch our Sustainability Manager, Gloria Tramontana, share how we work on becoming more sustainable.
In late May, we hosted our 11th annual Boozt Platform Conference! 🎊 To provide a best-in-class customer experience and efficient operations means that we need to stay up to date on the latest technologies and boost our skills, that is why we host an annual two-day conference. This year’s 2 day conference consisted of plenty of knowledge sharing, engineering inspiration, and social activities where 200 of our developers got to participate in both interactive workshops on highly relevant topics from various Boozt colleagues, as well as external talks by our Boozt partners from Google Cloud, Cloudflare, GitLab, Adyen, and Slack. Thanks to our external partners and teams at our Boozt offices in Malmö, Poznan, Vilnius, Aarhus, and Copenhagen the conference was another great success! ✨
We have news! ✨ In the beginning of May our management team flew to Vilnius, Lithuania, to celebrate the opening of our new offices with our colleagues in Vilnius. The office space offers a comfortable working environment that is both spacious and in close proximity to nature. With this new design and layout, we are able to facilitate our Boozt working culture of innovation, cooperation, and collaboration! See the images here:
Buyer vs. merchandiser - what is the difference? 🤷♀️ Although our buyers and merchandisers work closely together as a team at Boozt, there is a difference in their work tasks and responsibilities. Overall they are in direct contact with our brands in order to make the best seasonal buys, develop strategic promotions, and ensure timely product delivery. But what is the difference then, you may ask? Our buyers are more creative thinking, focusing on the product. They research fashion trends and are responsible for selecting the products that appear on our websites. Our merchandisers on the other hand are more logically thinking, ensuring commercial and financial viability of the product. Their job is to make sure that a product can be sold, by finding out the right place for the product to appear and setting the right price. Have we peaked your interest? Go check out our open positions for the Buying and Merchandising department.
Providing for our employees We strive to provide the best possible work environment for our employees, which includes making sure they have excellent working conditions. These will slightly differ from our Danish and Swedish offices because of the different labor market legislation in the countries. Besides receiving a generous employee discount when shopping at Boozt.com and Booztlet.com, you will have 25 paid vacation days, as well as become part of the Boozt’s pension scheme to which Boozt pays a percentage of your base salary. Both men and women have the right to be on parental leave and are entitled to both parental pay from the government as well as pay from Boozt as long as the criteria is met. How Platform assist Boozt’s operations 💻 Our Platform teams support most of our departments in one way or the other by developing systems or programs to work in as well as keeping our websites up and running. They also work to improve our operations in our warehouse, improving logistics for receiving goods, handling packaging and return as well as the maintenance of the AutoStore installation. Along with this, they also help the Photo Studio at the warehouse with their systems. One example of this is when receiving an image from a brand where the resolution of the image is too low. With research and innovative thinking our Platform team developed a way to upscaling product images so we can provide the best presentation of the products on our site. Reaching milestone of a 1,000 employees in 2021 ✨ In 2021, we reached a huge milestone when we reached more than 1,000 employees. It began with the insourcing of our warehouse staff in the beginning of January and continued as we onboarded more people during the year. When Boozt was founded in 2011 we were only a few people working from our small office in Mamö, Sweden, but as we have grown over the years, and are still experiencing hyper growth, we need new talented people to help us on our journey. Tech Blog: How we started unit testing Boozt iOS app 📱 We started the Boozt Tech blog as a place where we can share our experiences and — with the rest of the tech community. Recently we shared an article about the time where we started unit testing Boozt’s iOS app and it changed the entire way that we work and think about our projects. “[...] over time we did notice an increase in the number of quality of tests written, as well as the number of developers who regularly wrote tests as part of their daily work. Our conversation started to shift from “is it worth writing a test for this” to “how do we test this”.” Read the full article here:
