These four principles encompass all safe driving techniques and give our drivers the tools they need to avoid accidents and be all-around better stewards of our customers' cargo to Carry the World. Celebrating Hispanic roots is all about connecting with others. Our Mi Gente employee resource group is on a mission to develop multicultural intelligence for its members. In celebration of their roots, Mi Gente members from the U.S., El Salvador and Honduras hosted in-person "Breakcitos" (Spanglish for a short break) as an open networking space to meet new members, have fun and be themselves.
Innovating today will move us toward a better tomorrow. We recently sponsored the Innovation Challenge Week at the University of North Florida. In this program, students produced innovative ideas using artificial intelligence technology to improve the customer buying experience. The ideas were co-created working with Crowley coaches, Small Business Development Center consultants and UNF faculty. Students Angel Perez and Ana Paula Melillo won the Judges and Audience Choice Awards and received $5,000 with the concept of automated Partnering to address gaps in the brokerage process.
Watch this time-lapse video to see the hull of our eWolf, the U.S. first all-electric tug, being turned by Master Boat Builders, Inc. This milestone now leads to installing the house and building out her features. The 82-foot vessel will have 70 pounds of bollard pull when she serves the Port of San Diego next year.
We deliver tasty meals…to our crew members on the Taino, especially when Chief Steward Luis Perez is in the kitchen. Enjoy this third-in-a-series cooking video filmed on one of our ConRos. His healthy pan-seared salmon with strawberry-avocado salsa, brussels sprouts, and purple mashed potatoes are a high-five favorite of Captain Kyle Campeau. Sharing fresh recipes with our crew is one way we care for them while we keep your supply chains moving.
We are proud to have committed to net-zero emissions, but we know this is only the beginning. We urge our partners across our value chain to join us and work to decarbonize at the pace and scale determined by science. We are taking part in #NetZeroActionDay, joining the urgent call for world leaders and companies across the globe to take climate action now with the Science Based Targets initiative. Our teams are empowered to positively impact the communities we serve. During #HispanicHeritageMonth, Crowley's employee resource group, Mi Gente, has celebrated its Hispanic roots by serving others through volunteerism and donations. Salvadoran volunteers helped at La Casa de Retiro Sagrado Corazón, where they spent time with 20 seniors from the Sara Zaldívar Nursing Home. They shared stories, board games, music and lunch. Mi Gente also donated supplies for the nursing home community through employee contributions. #CrowleyCares
After Brett Bennett, our SVP of Logistics spent quality time visiting employees and customers in Honduras, he visited El Salvador to celebrate the opening of our new warehouse. He also took advantage of the time to review accomplishments and strategy with local personnel while getting a debrief on safety and security best practices. He wrapped with a customer dinner and left with a feeling of pride in our wonderful Central American team. We Carry the World. Forward. Move your career forward with us.
