During the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Maritime Day observance, the Maritime Administration (MARAD) honored the crew of the Stena Immaculate with the Gallant Ship Award for their heroic, lifesaving actions during the North Sea Incident on March 10, 2025. As one of the maritime industry’s highest honors, this award reflects the highest standard of seamanship and serves as a testament to the courage, professionalism and dedication of these mariners. Their swift response and unwavering commitment not only saved lives but also exemplified the values that strengthen our nation’s maritime tradition. On this National Maritime Day, we proudly recognize the crew of the Stena Immaculate along with every U.S. mariner whose commitment powers our country’s maritime strength. From transporting goods and supporting defense to maintaining critical supply lines, their dedication is vital to the security and prosperity of our nation. That capability does not happen by accident. It depends on continued commitment, investment and support from all of us for the men and women who sail under the American flag. Congratulations to the crew of the Stena Immaculate on this prestigious honor and thank you to all mariners who continue to keep our nation moving.
Preparedness, teamwork and decisive action made all the difference for the crew of our tug Sea Prince in Seward, Alaska. After hearing a woman fall into the water while attempting to board her vessel, the crew immediately activated a man-overboard response. They deployed a line, safely maneuvered her alongside the vessel and worked with a neighboring crew to lift her from the water using a life sling while emergency responders were contacted. Moments like this reflect the professionalism of Crowley mariners and the culture of safety that guides our operations every day. Thank you to Captain Jason Kehn and the entire Sea Prince crew for their calm, capable response in a critical situation.
Safety at sea is a commitment our mariners live every day. The Chamber of Shipping of America has recognized 48 of our vessels and crews for their outstanding safety performance, awarding them Jones F. Devlin Safety Awards. Together, these vessels represent 427 years of service without a lost-time injury - a powerful reflection of disciplined operations and a deeply embedded safety culture. In addition, the crews of El Coquí and Stena Immaculate received Ship Safety Achievement Awards for their decisive, lifesaving actions during separate incidents in 2025. From rescuing four sailors in the Atlantic Ocean to safeguarding our people, vessel and environment during a serious incident in the North Sea, these U.S. mariners exemplified the professionalism, preparedness and courage that define Crowley. Congratulations to our mariners and teams on this well-earned recognition and thank you for setting the standard for safety at sea.

Read what Kollin has to say about energy resilience and why it matters now more than ever.

Safe and reliable execution are at the core of our LNG operations at Crowley. That focus and commitment show up in our consistency and performance every single day. In less than 18 months, our bunker barge Progress has completed 100 LNG discharges at the Port of Savannah - moving more than 620,000 m³ with zero lost time incidents. That’s what disciplined operations and reliable performance look like in action. It all comes down to a strong safety culture and a team that takes ownership every day. Proud of the people behind the progress, delivering LNG safely, reliably, and the right way.
It's been one year since the Stena Immaculate was struck by another vessel while anchored in the North Sea, an event that underscored the extraordinary professionalism and courage of our mariners. In the critical moments, the crew acted with precision and discipline, carrying out essential fire and emergency duties before abandoning ship. Their quick response helped safeguard lives, protected the vessel from deeper loss, and reduced the potential impact on surrounding communities and the environment Their actions continue to resonate across our organization and throughout the maritime industry. It stands as a powerful reminder of the importance of training, teamwork and an unwavering commitment to safety. Their example reflects the highest standards of the mariner workforce and reinforces the shared responsibility we all have to protect people, assets and the environment.
