Decommissioning outdated technology delivers cost savings, security, and innovation at one of the United States’ largest nonprofit health systems. In Chief Healthcare Executive, Trinity Health leaders Mike Prokic and Nick O’Connor describe how the health system’s move to Epic sparked a broader effort to retire legacy applications—one that has saved $80 million and counting, with estimated savings expected to exceed $100 million. What began as a defined project evolved into an ongoing program the leaders call a “big differentiator” for the organization. Beyond cost reduction, Trinity Health has strengthened its cybersecurity by eliminating vulnerable older systems while preserving their historical data. Full article here: https://lnkd.in/gym3ivyB
Baking news! It’s National Croissant Day. Crust me when I say our croissants are butter than anyone else’s, which explains why the Culinary team serves over 200,000 croissants in a year. They often don’t have leftovers, but if they do, they are donated or put out as snacks for even more people to enjoy.
Hoping you've had snow much good cheer in the new year so far!
Legend says that the size of the bands on the woolly bear caterpillar is proportional to the severity of the coming winter. Looks like we’re in for a moderate winter!
Spotted on campus: one of Epic’s most dedicated groundskeepers.
It's summertime at Epic, and some of us are jumping right in!
Another successful XGM in the books! Thanks to everyone who came to share ideas, laughs, and art on the giant light brights. 😊🎉
Us: dreams of zooming into spring, begging for the end of April snow.
Spring has sprung! Time to roll out of bed (or your den—all are welcome) and take your spot in the sun. These fuzzy fellas chose the campus theatron as their new home.
The LA wildfires caused ineffable devastation. But without the work of many brave people, the situation could have been even worse. One disruption that’s easy to overlook: a potential loss of healthcare services for people battling life-threatening illness, like cancer. Our friends at Cedars-Sinai met the challenge. With hospitals and clinics offering oncology services across a geographical area that serves 11 million people, they used Epic to manage the flow of both patients and staff when threats from fire in a given area increased. Cedars-Sinai reported that while they had to postpone elective surgeries across the system, there were no breaks in cancer care, and the system’s clinical trials and research pharmacy also remained operational throughout the fires. Thank you for your tireless commitment to patient care. Read more: https://www.beckershospitalreview.com/oncology/cancer-care-cant-stop-lessons-from-the-los-angeles-wildfires.html
