During that time, I’ve worked with clients from all corners of the world with different use cases and that used our product to create different solutions. As time passed, I grew within my role and became a Data Science Manager, managing a team of data scientists from EMEA and APAC that worked on several projects for our clients. This period was important for developing my soft skills, such as coaching, conflict resolution, and negotiation. Recently, I had the opportunity to work as a Product Manager where I'm using my experiences ‘in the field’ to help build our product while growing my own product leading skills. Meet Sofia Gomes, Senior Research Data Engineer at Feedzai (Lisbon) 👋 "I joined Feedzai in 2019 after getting my PhD from FCT-Nova and working almost 4 years at a telecom company. Feedzai is truly an unique company. In terms of technical challenges, we have some of the hardest in the industry. Feedzai systems are mission-critical, which means that they need to handle high throughputs, achieve low latency in high percentiles (>99.99%), run 'forever,' be highly-available, and be fault-tolerant. In addition, fraud is an incredibly difficult and complex subject, with fraud patterns constantly evolving over time. This requires many types of machine learning models, which need to be monitored and retrained periodically. We are constantly pushing the state-of-the-art in machine learning, distributed systems, and data visualization, and it feels great to be part of it. On top of it all, Feedzai has amazing and brilliant people who work together as #oneteam, and the company offers an environment where everyone is encouraged to share their ideas." Fresh out of college, I had never worked in the human resources field, so everything I did at Feedzai was a great learning experience, from dealing with new tech platforms to dealing with people. HOW DID YOU MAKE AN IMPACT AS AN HR INTERN? I did all the onboardings for new hires, which means I made an impact on the way people were supported during their first weeks. This brought a lot of responsibility to my role, as I would be the first impression of the company, but it was also very rewarding to help people start on the right foot and have a good experience at this amazing company.
