Meet Mercedes Morelli—Project Manager for Fives Cinetic Corp. Mercedes first joined the Fives Family as a summer intern working in the Project Management Department. After receiving her degree from Northwood University, she was hired back as an Associate Project Manager, and later promoted to Junior Project Manager, and more recently Project Manager. She feels the most rewarding piece of her job is to witness how the engineering, critical thinking and creative problem solving developed from her team, ultimately help customers and their employees to overcome manufacturing obstacles and become more efficient. “As a team, we come together to concept design, and built products for the costomer. The projects can range from a small retool in a single station to completing an entire new assembly line. The automation that we accomplish here is incredible!”

Frédéric joined Fives in September 2017, after working as an assembler in another company for 16 years. For him, the last few years have gone by at breakneck speed. He specialises in the assembly and assembly of complex mechanical equipment (sugar centrifigals) within a team of mechanics and boilermakers. In his trade, he is always looking to learn, to do better, and is constantly challenging himself. One year after his arrival at the workshop, he moved to the position of Assistant Workshop Manager. Managing teams, training them, and sharing his knowledge with them are part of his passion at work. His job has also enabled him to travel abroad to ensure the on-site installation of machines that he had assembled in the workshop. Frédéric says: "My job is to put down the last piece of the puzzle without which the equipment could not be made". Fives challenges CentraleSupelec students to design tomorrow's industrial solutions In November, Fives issued a challenge to the students of Centrale Supelec, an engineering school ranked among the world's top universities, of which the Group is a long-time partner. The 28 students in the Design & System Sciences specialization were thus confronted with a real case study on a well-defined R&D theme, focusing on energy recovery during the braking phase of a robot. To take up this challenge, the students were accompanied by Sébastien Noël, R&D Automation Projects Pilot at Fives Cinetic, within Fives’ Smart Automation Solutions Division. During 10 days, the students deployed their skills in analysis, diagnosis and system architecture, to come up with several proposals. This event is at the heart of Fives' commitment to help people discover how exciting the industry is and work to develop ever more virtuous solutions that resonate with its raison d'être "Faire aimer l’Industrie"
