This week, The Arbinger Institute film crews spent some time around GVEC's service territory capturing employees' personal stories of how the Outward Mindset has benefited them, their department, and our organization as a whole. The footage will be used to create a training video for any organization that implements the Outward Mindset in their culture. We can't wait to see the final product!
Yesterday, many GVEC employees from each department spent the morning at our Western Operations Center participating in a winter tabletop exercise. In these exercises, emergency scenarios are presented and departments go over their responses and plans-of-action according to GVEC's Emergency Operations Plan. Having these emergency tabletop exercises twice a year is one of the many ways GVEC is #DeliveringMore to our members and customers. A big thanks to Bobby Christmas Senior Executive Manager - Compliance and Zach Taylor Executive Director of Engineering for putting this together for us.

Each year at GVEC, employees nominate coworkers they feel best personify the Co-op’s Corporate Values to be selected as Employee of the Year. Being chosen by their own peers makes receiving this award an extra-special honor. Our 2020 Employee of the Year recipient, announced at our GVEC Employee Appreciation this past weekend, was Community Relations Representative Kasie Tankersley. Kasie has been with GVEC four years. In one coworker’s nomination, Kasie was described as the most caring, thoughtful and helpful person they’d ever worked with. Congratulations, Kasie! Thanks for all you do for GVEC, our members and customers, and the community!
Every year we plan a fun evening to celebrate our employees for all their hard work and dedication! This past weekend, we hosted our annual Employee Appreciation event we presented our Safety Excellence Award and the General Manager's Award. Safety Excellence goes to an employee nominated and voted on by our Safety Committee and is awarded to an employee who demonstrates the prioritization of safety for themselves and everyone they work with. The General Manager's Award recipient is selected by our General Manager and CEO Darren Schauer, and goes to an employee who stands out as coming to work every day with a great attitude, and a determination to get the job done, whatever it takes! This year's Safety Excellence Award recipient was Technical Services Foreman Jeremy Neskora, who has worked at GVEC for 10 years. Brandon Lewallen was the General Manager's Award recipient this year! Brandon is our Internet Services Field Supervisor, who has been part of the GVEC team for almost 14 years. We are proud of these two and appreciate all the hard work they do!
