As we move into phase two of bringing employees back into our offices, we are also bringing on new employees. This morning we brought on 4 new full-time employees and 5 new seasonal helpers. In observance of social distancing recommendations, our first day on-boarding process and "Meet GVEC" training looked a bit different, but here at GVEC we adapt each day and continue to push forward. #teamGVEC #PowerOn
GVEC hosted our first Leadership Hangout Session via video chat yesterday. This time and space was created as an open forum for leadership at all levels to come together and discuss processes, feedback, questions and concerns as we navigate the challenges presented by the emergence and spread of Covid-19. Even our Customer Service team is adapting to different work environments. While some of the team is still reporting to the offices to service the drive thru, over half of our CSRs have been set up remotely to continue assisting our members and customers from home. #teamGVEC #poweron

As an essential service provider, many of our employees are unable to work remotely. Our line crews, GVEC.net and GVEC Home teams are still working to make sure our members and customers have the services they need while they are at home during this time. Our GVEC.net team has been working to make sure our members and customers have internet access for those working from home as well as their children now going to school remotely. The last several weeks have looked very different for a good number of our employees. With the help of our IT department, many employees have set up remote work stations at home to help keep day to day functions running smoothly. Between Lifesize and Teams meetings, we have also been able to stay connected with each other and still have any meetings we would normally hold in office. Say "hey" to our HR team! #teamGVEC
GVEC employees are setting-off on foot to visit some our nation's National Parks without leaving the Guadalupe Valley. A Walking Challenge is underway, promoting active lifestyles for healthier living. Employees are challenged to walk at least 10,000 steps a day to reach all of the milestones. The annual challenge never fails to reveal we have some competitive folks around here! And, it's all in good fun! #teamGVEC

Over the past two weeks, we hosted three separate job shadow days at our Western Operations Center. These visits allowed students from Navarro, Seguin, Clemens and Wagner High Schools to get to know GVEC, the services we have have to offer, and allowed them to explore potential employment opportunities that could be available after high school or college. Students spent time with Electricians, Line Design Techs, R.O.W Agents and IT as well as listened to presentations by GVEC Home and GVEC.net. We appreciate the opportunity to share GVEC with our future workforce! #teamGVEC
Class is officially in session for our four Apprentice Electricians. GVEC Home was recently approved for an Electrical Apprenticeship Training Program registered with the Texas Department of Labor, where Apprentices can learn valuable skills about their profession and earn credits toward the program, all while employed at GVEC. Our Apprentices spend time each week in class with our Master Electrician and Electrical Services Manager to focus on curriculum after their time out in the field focusing on application. #teamGVEC
