On Friday, as part of her role on the SMPS Oregon Board of Directors, Adrienne Lindsey (third from right) volunteered her time at Rose Haven. They're a shelter for women and children seeking refuge from the streets during the day. They provide meals, clothing, counseling and medical assistance. Adrienne and the other SMPS board members helped them process and organize their large backlog of donations of clothing, diapers and hygiene products! We love to see our employees volunteering to #DoGood in their communities. In fact, we love it so much that we made it a policy! Our employees can take one paid day each year to #volunteer for their favorite cause! Any suggestions of worthy causes where our staff could spend their #DayOfGiving? #SocialGood
Our Baton Rouge office has been working hard through a very busy Spring, and they decided to stop long enough to celebrate. Yesterday the principals and associates played servers for an epic ice cream bar! Love the PPE from Board Chair David Sauls. Safety first! Brain freeze is no joke.
Lucy and Michelle recently shared this photo of themselves out at a big development site on the Puget Sound. Keep up the good work! #GeoLife #FieldFriday
Like many of our staff, I wear this bright orange jacket almost every day to keep off the Seattle rain and stay visible. This morning on the way to work it took on some extra meaning because it's the U.S. Dept. of Transportation's "Go Orange Day!" It's a way to help us raise awareness about National Work Zone Awareness Week, and the importance of safety while working (and walking) along the road. If you're sporting orange today, share a pic and support awareness on this important safety issue. #OrangeForSafety
Tomorrow is the U.S. Dept. of Transportation's "Go Orange Day!" It's a way to help us raise awareness about National Work Zone Awareness Week, and the importance of safety while working along the road. Many of our employees are already used to wearing orange to promote important safety issues after our own #Orangetober campaign last October. Time to show-off our orange jackets again, and you can join us! Transportation professionals across the country are encouraged to wear orange to proudly show their support of work zone safety. Participate by snapping a photo of yourself and your friends wearing orange, and share it using #OrangeForSafety. And no matter who you are, remember to slow down and be watchful as you drive through roadway work zones! #SafetyFirst
For Field Friday, Chris Watson shared this selfie from a recent night shift out at a horizontal directional drilling (HDD) site. Our pipeline work often requires long hours and sometimes 24-hour construction schedules to meet aggressive deadlines. Thank you for your work, Chris, and everyone on the Geo team!
We'd be nothing without our labs. Our work relies on accurate data, and that data often comes from our own AASHTO-certified labs. Cathy Perkins keeps our Baton Rouge lab running smoothly. Thanks for all you do!
Our good friends at Holt Services just broke a personal record for their deepest direct push drill--at 151.5 ft! We're glad to partner with these seasoned pros at a number of environmental investigations in the Puget Sound region.
David Sauls, our board chair and a senior principal, was recently inducted into LSU's Engineering Hall of Distinction. Congratulations, David!
Ever heard of a hackathon? They're a great way for developers and other tech pros to collaborate to solve problems, and we just helped to host one. We may be an earth science and engineering firm, but technology plays a critical role in our projects!
