At Healthfirst, we’re continuing our pledge of supporting the Asian-American community who’ve experienced an increase in verbal assaults, physical attacks, and threats to their lives over the last year. We can all play a role in helping to Stop Asian Hate, that’s why we’re making a financial contribution to the Hope Against Hate campaign to help safeguard Asian-American New Yorkers. The campaign, which was developed by the Asian American Federation (AAF), is focused on helping to fight attacks in local communities and bring safety back to Asian-American communities throughout New York. Pat Wang, Healthfirst President and CEO, says: “The Asian American Federation’s Hope Against Hate campaign is an important initiative that we are proud to support because it will help ensure that Asian New Yorkers feel safer in their communities and that victims of assault receive the help they need.” Read our full announcement to learn more about the Hope Against Hate campaign: https://myhf.org/2RjI7RD #stopasianshate #stopaapihate #appiheritagemonth #appicommunity #hopeagainsthate #inthecommunity

Women from across the globe come together each year on March 8 to celebrate International Women’s Day. The day celebrates the achievements of women, while also raising awareness about the importance of women’s equality. This year’s theme is “Choose to Challenge” and we asked Healthfirst Trailblazers “What does it mean to advance health equity for women?” See what they had to say. What will you do to choose to challenge? #InternationalWomensDay #ChoosetoChallenge #IWD2021
As February comes to an end, we’d like to acknowledge our employee-led Black History Month Inclusion Committee, which was supported by our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. Errol L Pierre, Healthfirst’s SVP of State Programs, knows that committing to healthcare equity will help ensure that more people from the communities who need the COVID-19 vaccine the most, have access to it. Personally, he was elated to help schedule an appointment for his eligible mother to get vaccinated. She’s doing her part to keep her community safe, something we can all do.
