We were privileged to welcome over 2,000 attendees from 32 countries, featuring 122 speakers across 5 session tracks. With 43 oral poster presentations, 42 exhibitors, and 14 industry forums, the event showcased the latest breakthroughs and milestones in the field. Speaking to NeurologyLive, about research in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (#ALS), Rita Sattler, MSc, PhD, a professor in the Department of Translational Neuroscience at Barrow Neurological Institute said, "There’s not going to be 1 single biomarker that’s going to be the golden ticket for us. We need to understand that we’re probably going to need a combination of biomarkers. And depending on what the clinical trial is being designed as, we may pick one biomarker that sort of measures the overall changes in outcome and progression of the disease as well as another biomarker that would be more of a pharmacodynamic biomarker to see target engagement." Dr. Sattler will provide more insights on translational research in ALS, including the most recent discoveries and utilization of molecular biomarkers for the disease at the 2024 MDA Clinical & Scientific Conference March 3-6 in Orlando, Florida. We are honored to announce that Muscular Dystrophy Association’s advocacy campaign for #AccesibleAirTravel has won the Public Affairs Council’s Innovation Award in the Communication Innovation category. We are appreciative for this recognition and extend our congratulations to our fellow awardees. Our gratitude and kudos go to Mindy Henderson and Madison Lawson for sharing their#AirTravel experience with courage and bravery in real time, shedding light on the realities faced by people living with disabilities and traveling with wheelchairs. Their vulnerability was instrumental in illustrating the necessary changes Congress needs to make during the Federal Aviation Administration reauthorization process to make hashtag#AccessibleAirTravel a reality for people with hashtag#disabilities.
