“Hug a Vegan” Day clearly went down well around the PETA offices but peta2 really took advantage and successfully launched its first ever Thunderclap campaign. Spreading the compassionate vegan message all over the internet, Thunderclap enabled peta2 to send out a single, pre-set message to be mass-shared online at a set time. Thunderclap only works if the supporter goal is met - it was surpassed! 647 of a goal of 500 supporters were reached, which turned into a “social reach” of 1,145,744, that’s a lot of cyber-vegan-hugs! Congrats peta2! http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vIpAk

The PETA Latino team has been hard at work, so it's no wonder that they ended the week with over 8 thousand new 'likes' on Facebook! From breaking investigations and top celebrity news to incredible recipes (like their amazing ceviche) there is always something new happening with the PETA Latino crew. We are so proud of our Mobile Clinic’s Division, we just had to give them a shout-out! PETA's MCD travels around Virginia and North Carolina setting up in low-income neighborhoods and outside animal shelters. Not only does MCD provide expert advice and veterinarian procedures, they also transport animals to and from surgeries when guardians are unable to. All this to say (and rejoice!) in the numbers reported by MCD in July '15. In just 1 mth, MCD spayed and neutered 1103 animals! Congratulations MCD on all your efforts to end homelessness, overcrowding and suffering.
This week our mobile clinic staff member had our second annual trip to Danville for a mega spay/neuter event! It was a smashing success! We spayed and neutered 121 animals, including 2 rabbits. We also stitched up a cat’s injured tail, aspirated a possible tumor on a dog, treated a shelter cat with an eye ulcer and chronic infection, and more. This week, peta2's Draw My Life SeaWorld Facebook video has surpassed the amazing milestone of 10 million views!
PETA staff really know how to get the word out! During the past week, PETA’s Living and Recipe pages combined received 252,683 unique page views, and the most popular post was: 16 Vegan One-Pot Recipes to Save You From All Those Dishes, which received 23,014 unique page views in one week!
The PETA staff works hard for animals, so the PETA Foundation's HR team works to take care of our staff! This summer we launched a new wellness program, encouraging staff to move more, give back, and improve their well-being. Here is a glance at two of our goals and our progress so far. Can you believe we've already "walked" from Norfolk to Nevada? We're coming for you California!
PETA staff members are able to make a big difference every day! Here is just one of our latest victories.
