Juneteenth, a federal holiday commemorating the end of legalized slavery in the United States, has taken on additional significance for all of us at SAFCO. We’ve taken care in ensuring that this moment in our American history is included in our Company’s annual tradition. Our thanks to the SAFCO Cares Team and Lavish Caribbean Restaurant for bringing our diverse team together to enjoy a traditional Juneteenth picnic while watching a presentation of the history of this important holiday!
In a recent issue of SubPrime Auto Finance News, Southern Auto Finance Company, LLC (“SAFCO”) has been recognized by the publication as a member of the Special Finance 175 again this year. The complete award listing can be found on Page 43 of the magazine’s April 2022 issue.
SAFCO was pleased to host its first in-office wellness fair at our new corporate headquarters since the start of the pandemic. As we take a holistic approach to wellness, we were fortunate to have presenters that touched upon all aspects of our team members’ wellbeing, from physical to financial. We were excited to announce at this year’s event the addition of a free gym membership for all team members who participate in our insurance.
As a proud sponsor of “Birdies For Birch,” an annual charity golf tournament held at the Lauderdale Country Club, SAFCO is pleased to give back to one of our home community’s most valuable treasures. Our senior leadership CEO George Fussell, Sr. CFO Gary Stein, SVP of Loan Servicing and Compliance Dan Baggett, and Director of Sales and Marketing Zack Sawyer played as a foursome in the tournament, while SAFCO Cares Team members Kimberly Ebanks, Jennifer Garnes, Allison Francis, and Cassie Miranda were stationed on the course to watch for those elusive hole-in-one shots! Proceeds from the tournament are used to fund special work projects, events and programs, community outreach, and educational activities at the park.
Wishing everyone a peaceful and joyous holiday!
Today we celebrate National Pet Day! Be they furry or feathery, we love our pets at SAFCO for all they do to make our lives more enjoyable. To give back in the spirit of this day, we held a prize drawing for every SAFCO team member who submitted a picture of themselves and their pet. The winner not only received a $50 gift card from Chewy.com, a $50 donation was made in their name to SAFCO’s favorite shelter, Abandoned Pet Rescue. Congratulations to Collections Manager Nini Melendez and her mini pincher-chihuahua mix Bella! Abandoned Pet Rescue (APR) is our favorite because they rescue and shelter abandoned and abused dogs and cats with the goal of finding them new homes. APR is one of the largest no-kill animal shelters in South Florida, providing comprehensive care for 6,800 dogs and cats that have come through the shelter over the past decade. If would like to help out APR and donate to them on National Pets Day, check out the link below: https://lnkd.in/dSehD2aA #nationalpetday #dogs #puppy #pets #love #cats #ilovemydog #puppylove #doglovers #doggy
SAFCO prides itself on a supportive culture that values the diversity of its employees. This month, that meant teaming up with our Loan Servicing Department in Barranquilla, Colombia to host a company-wide carnival celebration!! Held each March, Barranquilla’s carnival is the biggest celebration of Colombian folklore and one of the world’s largest carnivals. Our SAFCO Cares Team went all out to give our stateside employees the true feel of a carnival! They decorated SAFCO’s entire headquarters with flower garlands, balloons, and banners, elected a King and Queen, brought in authentic food, and even led a parade throughout the office. Best of all, we established a two-way audio/visual linkup via overhead screens with our Barranquilla office so the teams on both sides of the ocean could celebrate the festivities as one! #companyculture #employeeengagement #humanresources #employeeexperience #teambuilding #workplaceculture #employeeappreciation #barranquilla #carnavaldebarranquilla #diversity
For the past few years, we’ve placed sunflowers around our office as a symbol of positivity and leadership at SAFCO. Dr. Harry Cohen’s “Be the Sun, Not the Salt” philosophy has guided us to energize ourselves and uplift those around us. Now since Russia invaded Ukraine, the sunflower – Ukraine's national flower – has taken on new meaning as a global symbol of solidarity. Its bright yellow blooms shine a beacon of unity and hope in a troubled world. To keep the spirit of the Ukrainian people and their struggle for freedom in our hearts, we’ve placed fresh sunflowers as a reminder of what we enjoy here in our country. If you would like to help the people of Ukraine, we encourage you to check out the worthy organizations already offering support on the ground in Ukraine and neighboring countries.
Where were you in the 1980’s? To help lift our pandemic spirits, we decided it was time for a company-wide “Totally Awesome 80’s Day”!!! It felt great to step back to the era of MTV and Miami Vice and just enjoy ourselves being “Madonna,” “Don Johnson,” or “Tom Cruise” for a day. Neon colors and scrunchies were everywhere, along with a few giant cell phones (remember those?). Our international team members in Barranquilla even joined in the fun! Now who wants to return to the 90’s?
We're so proud of our beautiful new headquarters!
