Last week, to conclude the City of Southfield’s CommUNITY Cup - an annual summer event that brings businesses in Southfield together for friendly competition and to raise funds and awareness for a good cause - Sun Communities & Sun Outdoors team members gathered at Stevenson Elementary to volunteer their time. Together with volunteers across various businesses, we spent the afternoon beautifying school grounds and painting buddy/lunch benches and tables for the students. During the event, the team packed over 800 snack bags!
Together with the National Park Foundation (NPF), Sun Communities & Sun Outdoors is supporting programs to ensure that all people see themselves in parks and feel welcome in these places that belong to all of us. River Raisin National Battlefield Park, located just 45 minutes from Sun’s Main Office, is a grant recipient who received funding from NPF’s ParkVentures and Junior Ranger Angler programs. Since the launch of our partnership with Camp Quality USA in 2021, Sun Communities & Sun Outdoors has helped bring care, comfort, and fun to children with cancer and their families. Our support helps this nonprofit provide outdoor vacation experiences at no cost to these families, who are often burdened with medical bills and appointments. Sun Outdoors now hosts Camp Quality USA and Camp Quality Canada Family Camp Weekends at five resorts, allowing kids affected by cancer and their families to reconnect with each another, as well as others going through similar situations.
