Making the circular economy SIM-ple for the mobile industry. Veolia has joined forces with Thales, a global leader in advanced technologies, to give old refrigerators a new lease of life as eco-designed SIM cards. The new process, designed by experts from both Veolia and Thales, will eliminate the need for almost 5,000 metric tonnes of virgin plastic a year. The new Eco-SIM card also has a neutral carbon footprint. This project demonstrates the true potential of the circular economy to give old items a second life, often in unexpected ways.
