Last Saturday we opened our doors for our first-ever Open House event. Our members and the general public had the opportunity to explore the building we call home. They learnt about the breadth of work we do for consumers, saw how products were tested and heard about our campaigns and member services. We also shared our most recent work on the cost of living and sustainability. #OpenHouseLondon
Rocio Concha Galguera, Director of Policy and Advocacy at Which?, writing in PoliticsHome on the cost of living crisis today 'Solutions to tackle the cost of living won’t be achieved through government intervention alone. Our new campaign asks businesses in essential areas where consumers can only cut back so much - supermarkets, energy and telecoms - to do more to make customers’ lives easier. This is not to say that some firms are not already taking steps. But we believe they could, and should, go further.' Here's our agenda for business to support consumers through the cost of living crisis https://lnkd.in/eyDS-mFr #CostOfLivingCrisis #SocialTariff #CostOfLiving
We are calling on businesses across the energy, telecoms and supermarket sectors to do more to help consumers struggling with the cost of living crisis. With the cost of essentials soaring, people are often being forced to make impossible trade-offs, such as not heating their home or skipping a meal. Some might do both. While government intervention is necessary, businesses must take urgent action. Here are our 9 asks ⬇️
This week, we’re celebrating National Inclusion Week - an opportunity to reflect on how we can all take action, however big or small, to contribute towards a more inclusive environment. Our colleagues have been sharing the characteristics and interests that make them who they are. The power of sharing has felt like a weight lifted for some, not having to wear a mask or hide parts of themselves through fear of judgement. It has also been a great way for colleagues to get to know each other further, celebrating our similarities and differences. Thank you to everyone who took part in the video Charlie Klysz, Hothan Esmael, Laura-Jane Wills, Nadina Hoeller, Josh Reeves, Simran Gill and Charlotte Taylor-Scott #DiversityAndInclusion #InclusiveWorkplace #Inclusion #Diversity #NationalInclusionWeek

Introducing our Science team! Responsible for the technical aspects of testing more than 120 different product categories, the team writes and maintains test programmes, liaising with our test labs across the world. They also perform the data analysis that determines the scores, star ratings, Best Buys, Don’t Buys and Eco Buys for our product reviews. In addition, the team represents Which? and consumer interests externally, working with a range of national and international consumer research, testing, and product safety and standards organisations. The team have scientific backgrounds spanning physics, pharmacology, biomedicine, biochemistry and psychology, including two PhDs.
Here's a round up of all our Which? endorsement logos. Our rigorous tests are 100% impartial and we don't accept freebies from product manufacturers or retailers. Once our independent review process has been completed, companies that achieve a high enough score to receive endorsement have the opportunity to purchase a licence to use our endorsement logo when marketing their products or services. Whether the businesses decide to invest in our endorsement scheme licences or not, our results and reviews remain unchanged and published on our website.
We’re delighted to welcome Patrick Leahy, who recently joined Which? as head of external affairs. Patrick brings many years of experience from the world of healthcare policy, most recently working at NHS England, where he was nationally responsible for communications for rare and complex diseases. He also contributed to the NHS' management of the Covid-19 pandemic, including leading NHS communications for the roll-out of world-first Covid-19 treatments. Patrick has long been drawn to consumer and business issues and, as a result, had an ambition to work for Which?. He says: ‘Which? is sometimes the only major national consumer voice on a particular policy – like the challenges facing the airline industry this year – so we have a fantastic opportunity here to make a tangible difference to consumers' everyday lives. I've really been struck by the values of our staff, the great team culture and the breadth of talent across the organisation. We also have a fantastic wealth of resources, including our teams working in investigations, content, legal, communications and insight.'
We are constantly rigorously testing and endorsing products from Best Buys to Which? Recommended Provider. These are the products and services that began using our endorsement logos in August– so keep an eye out!
