There's nothing ordinary about Arm.
Our collaborative culture, unique partner ecosystem and our innovations that shape the connected world are all as extraordinary as our people.
We are proud of how we work and what we stand for at Arm. Our culture is reflected in our three Core Beliefs, which represent what we value and who we are. Our Core Beliefs are what makes the culture of Arm unique and they work together to represent the essence of Arm.
Our core beliefs, which lie at the heart of the business, are encapsulated in three simple phrases. They are the principles that guide how we work together to deliver results with global impact.
We, not I
We believe in collaboration first, egos last.
Passion for progress

Be your brilliant self
We stand for individuality, performance and fun.

Because we're dedicated to constant innovation and continual invention, there are almost unlimited opportunities for you to ensure your career is continuously evolving.
Hear from two Arm employees who open up about their career growth with Arm:
In an increasingly connected world, it’s the fresh ideas of graduates and people early in their careers that help us shape these technologies. Which is why we’re looking for people with the greatest potential to join us.
Collaborating with experts means you’ll learn critical skills on the job. Working with your line manager will enable you to select activities which are tailored to fit your individual development needs.
Arm is the place where talented engineers and IT specialists come to build their careers. We’ll enable you to transfer your passion into engineering and IT excellence through our structured two-year development journey, while you simultaneously take on real and challenging work.
We know that many students want to continue their research work after their education. That’s why every year we hire many PhD students into our Research group. Because of the diversity of our research portfolio we look to hire subject-matter PhD experts who will inspire the next generation of technology.
Whether you're interested in gaining experience in our engineering or corporate groups, we recruit students into our internship program at all stages of university education.
The kinds of students who thrive at Arm take their love of learning beyond their experience of formal education and develop ideas in their own time. This is the energy that interests us.
The Arm experience involves learning a lot from the best, very quickly. Interns put theory into practice through exciting, intellectually challenging, real-world projects that enrich your personal and technical development while enhancing your future career opportunities.
Our global intern program is specifically designed to build key skills during your time with us – and for your time at university. You'll have constant expert support and the opportunity to attend tailored training sessions. You'll also be offered a rich range of social experiences which you'll find invaluable for network building.
Your journey need not end once you've completed your internship – you'll have the opportunity to spread the Arm message as part of our campus teams. A large number of our interns also go on to join us as graduates as part of our commitment to developing the talent of the future.
Hear from some of our 2014 Interns on their experience:
Arm is a home for smart and ambitious people who want to work on the kind of challenging projects that transform the industry. We offer summer and industrial placements every year across the business to help find our next generation of engineers. Students perform work that is valuable and necessary to our success and at the same time they build key skills for future employment – all while working in dedicated, creative and collaborative environment.
Arm offers salaries that are competitive in local markets. Base salaries are enhanced by Launch and Partner awards, which contribute to each employee's total compensation package.
In addition to the standard annual leave entitlement (varying from location to location), employees are given a paid sabbatical of one month every four years. Employees are allowed to use the sabbatical for whatever they choose. So, if you want to broaden your mind through travel or simply just spend some more time with your family and friends, we allow you the time to have those experiences. We believe a happy individual will be successful and motivated within the workplace.
As a leader in our field, Arm is somewhere you can expect to stretch yourself intellectually through challenging work. To stay ahead of the competition we all need to learn and develop continuously. To support this lifelong education, we provide a variety of on the job and formal training opportunities, aiming to promote and enable the development of everyone.
We take employee health and well-being extremely seriously. No matter where they are in the world, we’ll provide a number of benefits focused on promoting and maintaining the health of employees – sometimes extending those benefits to employees’ families.
We offer a comprehensive benefits package, with particular emphasis on equity as well as a strong focus on personal development. We want to work with smart people – people who want to improve, be challenged, transform the future of the digital world, and share our passion and the benefits of our work to all.
Unique benefits, such as a paid sabbatical every four years, are our way of giving back to staff and rewarding them for their hard work. With innovation at the core of the business, individuals who perform to a consistently high level are recognized and rewarded accordingly – through, for example, patent and white paper awards. Our unique team-based culture drives collaboration and fosters individual contribution in an excellent working environment.
The benefits that we offer may vary from country to country.
I have been working at Arm full-time (More than a year)
The people are nice to work with, appreciative and bright.
The work/life balance is respected and many people have a keen focus on diversity and inclusion.
ARM focus on their strengths of solving tough problems and where appropriate use third parties and build success with partners. ARM don't try to do everything or win at everything. My perception is that ARM focus on an area they add value and then do a polished professional job of delivering it.
The overall compensation is highly competitive - some of my team are starting to take their sabbatical's (4 week paid holiday every 4 years - only 3 years to go :-)
I love the trust and autonomy. Despite ARM having over 4500 employees it does not feel like a bureaucratic machine. As a leader I can honestly say that there are few things which you must do in a particular way or slow me down. The processes are pragmatic and mostly there to be made up or tweaked to fit your purpose.
The nature of the work and lack of previous attention to diversity in team building has led to a narrow set of types of people you get to interact with. I appreciate ARM is taking steps to address this with a Project Everyone programme - I've got involved and hoping to see the positive impact over time.
ARM was formed in Cambridge for designing cpu's. These are not cons, but they weigh heavily as perceptual baggage. ARM is rising up as a company in many world wide locations, who can develop world class software and become dominant in IoT. Despite this Cambridge and hardware sometimes seem to be the perceived places you must be.
Advice to Management
Keep focussed on the ARM values and make sure the rapid growth and shift into new markets do not demotivate and confuse people and create slow downs in some of the key foundations that the product teams rely upon e.g. hiring, legal.
Look to learn lessons from organisations that have gone through big transformations and growth in the past e.g. IBM one of my previous employers.
I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at Arm (Austin, TX) in December 2016.
Extremely professional bunch of recruiters do the basic screening process and schedule the interviews. You know before hand what topic a particular interviewer will be asking you questions on which is really helpful. The interview process was smooth and really good. All the interviewers make you feel comfortable and dont take you for granted.
