      Sales Representative Interview

      Jul 19, 2011
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Salesforce in May 2011

      Interview

I initially applied online for any positions in the sales or marketing sector and the role of Sales Representative interested me as a recent grad with 1+ year professional work experience. I was contacted the next day by a recruiter along with a follow up e-mail asking what times I was available to chat. We were able to set up a "phone interview" for the same day where the general questions were asked: What is your current role? What did you do for x, y, and z companies? What do you know about CRM/high-tech sales? Breezing through the phone interview, the recruiter set up a panel interview for the following week and recommended I go through the website and learn more about the company (as I emphasized to her that I had no prior experience in high-tech sales). I did my due diligence and the night prior to my interview, I read about the company and leafed through the website. The panel interview consisted of sitting down with a current Sales Rep who was extremely friendly and was able to answer all of my questions regarding the company, their current role, sales pressure (competitive yet friendly, I was informed) and whether they were overall, happy working at Salesforce. I then sat down with the SR managers who were a little intimidating. A few days following the interview I received a phone interview from another recruiter where she politely declined my application and explained that I was seemingly unprepared and had no prior experience with CRM and high-tech sales. In retrospect, I should have looked more in-depth into the company and its business goals.

I had several initial conversations with the Human Resources gatekeepers that were all are flawless. Leads to no second interview with their multi step interview process. Would rather talk with AI bot instead.
