I applied through college or university. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Target in Oct 2011
Interview
Target came to my school's career fair. I talked to them and they gave me a mini interview right there of two or three questions (What do you like best/what don't you like about your current job, etc.). The recruiter seemed to like me and said he wanted me to go to campus interviews in a couple of weeks.
HR contacted me and sent me the wrong job application (turned out to be kind of a pain because I couldn't get a hold of them for a while). I got that straightened out and then had to complete an online test (behavioral/IQ type of test that took over an hour to do).
I go to the interview and I notice there were about 100 applications they were going through when I walked in. There were about 10 people conducting interviews. I go in and they have me down for the wrong job again! I correct them and someone else comes in and interviews me. Interview was only about 4-5 questions (Tell me about your last school project. Tell me about when you made a mistake. Tell me when you had to make a tough decision. etc.).
I thought the interview went well. I'm an MBA graduate, a smart kid, and I'm very personable. They must not have liked something they saw though because I got a rejection email about 1 week later. Thought it was funny that the job I interviewed for was re-posted on my school's website 1 day before the rejection email. I would think that they would have found someone they liked from all of the applicants, but I guess not. Seemed like a lot of hoops to jump through to be rejected after only 5 questions. I could streamline their hiring system and save them a lot of time and money. Maybe I should apply for a HR job next time, lol.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Target
Interview
Standard behavioral interview process - initial phone screen, then two back to back interviews with senior level management/HR. Additionally, there was an assessment to test your fit for the position.

Tell me about a time you were faced with a difficult decision; how did you handle the situation, what was the outcome?
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Target (Savannah, GA) in Dec 2015
Interview
Initial screening by a recruiter at a job fair, followed by a series of phone interviews. Next is a few computer tests, then comes the in person interview. It begins with a tour of the facility, followed by a brief presentation overview of the company. Next, candidates are split off to conduct a series of interviews with the senior group leaders. Expect to interview with each SGL.

Question 1
Describe a time when you made a big mistake and tell us how you handled it.
She called me about a month and a half after I applied, I had pretty much forgotten about the job by then. We set up a preliminary phone interview. She called 15 after our appointment and asked me basic questions, it seemed like it went alright but I got an email a week later that said they were pursuing other candidates. Total waste of time.

Question 1
How did you hear about this job? She was really intent on asking about how I heard about the distribution center and this position. I had to pretty much convince her I was interested in this job. Why would I apply if I wasn't interested?
