Cons

Advice to Management

Listen to your employees (especially those on the front lines). Significant work should be done to train ALL employees on complexities of product and how to use the tool. Sales doesn't know what the Annotation Platform is, how it works, how to sell it, and what customers would be the right fit. They are also way overpriced and are losing customers left and right due to pricing, constant platform issues, and better service models. They have no team who reviews platform bugs and issues (the same team making product improvements works on bugs. A bug can't be fixed unless someone is taken off working on product updates to focus on the bug) and yet, they are constantly making updates to the tool. A team should be dedicated exclusively for fixing platform issues quickly and efficiently. Also, be more open and transparent. Many employees are leaving because the company continues to make poor decisions. The D&I offering is almost laughable. Been around for 20 years and when they had nothing to offer, they kept saying "we are new and we will get there." It is all for show. Specific teams are focusing on it, but Execs created a committee to improve it only for looks. Every team operates on their own island and as such, you are left to figure things out on your own. There is also too much red tape-employees should be empowered to do the right thing for their customers-not have to get approvals from everyone. Being publicly traded, everything is for their shareholders. They are starting to make improvements but they still need several years before they get there. Many employees are burnt out and are ready to leave.

Does Appen offer malpractice insurance?

Pros

I am working for Appen in 2 different projects for 5 months. -hourly pay rate is not low -instructions for projects are clear enough (even so there are some grey areas to evaluate more accurate) -work when you want, no stable hours to work for -they try to help you, i had no problems with management, quick return to my mails -several projects to work for -perfect if you are able work at home

Cons

No serious cons to worry about. Some guys say it is not a secure job and has no insurance. That's right but you already know that from the beginning. -In one of my projects, maximum hour limit is high. But sometimes i can't work as long as i want due to task shortage. That could be the one deficiency for my situation. Already applied for other projects, not accepted yet, still waiting

Advice to Management

Variety is a must i believe, but ensure if your current employees want more hours to work for.
