What is paid time off like at Applebee's?

Pros

Can make decent money especially if you're a management favorite. Tips paid out each shift. Liked the hand held tablets for order taking. Can choose your own flex schedule and management always approved time off requests requested on time even when we were short staffed. The kitchen staff was great. Love their free food for Vets on Veteran's Day. Always busy and always a great day to work. Liked the app (Shift One) for tracking sales. And Staff Link for the schedule.

Cons

Tips are low at happy hour. Brings in all the cheapos and they make you work like crazy with limited staff. Management would rather cut servers to save $10.08/hr and throw other servers to the wolves with 12+ tables all seated at the same time. Plymouth is next to a movie theater so this should be expected on the weekends. Not too upset that tables walked out at rush time. Hard for the cooks/bartenders to keep up when this happens and all affect your tip. The managers get some sort of bonus for reduced salary hours. Servers pay the fees for their credit card transactions, wash dishes and vacuume/clean which is uncommon in most restaurants. More and more no tippers at this location even with excellent service. Decided to leave for that reason. Clientel is changing at this location and not for the better. It's cheaper to eat at Applebees than McDonalds so you get a lot of teens and ethnic groups that don't tip.

Advice to Management

No raises or bonus except manadated COL increase. Never a review or an appreciated thank you except by one manager as he walks by. After training there is never any conversation on how you are doing. Bringing pizza in for some of the team when sales goals are met is a weak incentive at a food establishment and people working different shifts. Should track percentages to individual sales rather than total items sold. Although the top Perfect sales person who worked the most was praised constantly, I never received any recognition that my perfects sold percentage to sales was way higher. Suggest charging for water if guests aren't eating a meal and adding gratuity on large parties. Also management needs to stop ignoring the vaping/dabing and cell usage of staff while others do all the work. Another reason I left. Can't seem to keep good employees, I wonder why?

Can choose your own flex schedule and management always approved time off requests requested on time even when we were short staffed.

Does Applebee's offer relocation assistance?

Pros

The regulars, decent benefit package with the franchise I'm in, competitive pay

Cons

Help desk for IT issues is a joke, restuarant I work at is in desper5need of being torn down and rebuilt, promotional items are targeted for lower volume stores but the high volume stores get slaughtered because of it. You may make 48k a year without a college degree but you're required to work 55 hours minimum as a salaried manager. I developed plantar fasciitis fairly early on in my applebees career, sciatica and anxiety and depression.

Advice to Management

Invest in your employees and the property and they will invest in you.
