      Business Outlook

      Pros

lots of opportunities and great training centers

      Cons

women are constanly gone over for a best friend of market pres or regional president or anyone whos in the "bro club". Wifes or girlfriends of these guys( aside of their wifes ) get 1st shot at the better positions before a person performing well . Its another big Bro club company. The bad part ; nobody really looks out for the greater good or company as a whole

Lack of Support and Favoritism Made for a Frustrating Experience

      Automotive mechanic
      Former employee
      Des Plaines, IL
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

The company has a well-structured onboarding process that could be beneficial if you receive the promised support and training

      Cons

I joined AutoNation with high hopes, leaving a well-paying job because I believed I was moving to a place with better growth opportunities and support. Unfortunately, my experience has been the opposite. From the beginning, favoritism has been a major issue; better jobs are consistently given to other mechanics while I’m left with less desirable work, which makes it hard to earn a decent income despite putting in the same effort. One of the most frustrating parts of my experience was when I asked a coworker for help on a task. Rather than assisting me, they went to management, and I was later told not to ask for help again. I was promised training to improve my skills when I joined, but despite asking, I never received that training. Meanwhile, other employees were given the support I had been assured I would receive. This lack of guidance and support made it feel like I was being set up to fail. Overall, my time here has been disappointing. What was supposed to be a better opportunity has left me feeling disheartened and undervalued, as the promised support and growth simply never materialized. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy, unless you are friends/family with management than you should be golden!

      Current employee

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Working from home is really the only pro on this position

      Cons

Time off - almost non existant. Very small number of PTO days. No sick time. Forced to work while sick (or sick kids home) because I don't want to use my PTO hours for that, want to save them for time off with my family (vacations, school events, family events etc) Management of CAAD - or lack thereof. No one ever tells us anything that is happening in company, industry or market. Simply give us a metric to work off of. No real thought goes into the cars we are appraising/pricing. I find the company VERY reactive, rather than proactive. No career development (this is specific to CAAD) - do not expect to make any moves in the company or CAAD. There is NO development. Nor are open positions, if there is an opening they just put a specific person in it. No interviewing etc. Treatment of CAAD by stores - outright hostility between the CAAD department and stores. It's clear we are not accepted or liked by other departments in Autonation. There is such a divide and it makes it an annoying place to work at. Management doesn't care to get to know anyone. Given the remote nature of our position no one talks to you unless you mess up on something, then you hear all about it. But does anyone in management say, "how was your weekend", "how are the kids" etc. NOPE! As long as you are being productive and making them money, they could care less about you as a person.
