      Pros

The onboarding process was nice and very informative.

      Cons

During the recruitment process they were advertising remote work and flexibility, and also was stated when making verbal offer. As it later turned out the policy was changed and the requirement was 4 days working from office with no exceptions - which was communicated after the first onboarding day was complete and we had to sign contracts in a group setting.

      Pros

BCG has incredible US benefits, a culture that supports you, and leaders who focus on growth. The firm continues to grow profitably, and does so by hiring the very best talent.

      Cons

The culture and perks are slowly eroding; COVID had a big impact but growth is also negatively affecting it. BCG is at the size now where it's becoming a corporation, and with that comes more bureaucracy and slows down progress.

Horrible work/life balance and aggressive performance management

      Current employee

      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      Decent pay and health benefits

      Cons

The work-life balance is simply unsustainable—60-70 hour weeks are standard. No matter how much the firm claims to care about sustainability, the expectation is that you’ll always be available. The culture is extremely political. Who you align with internally can be just as important, if not more, than the quality of your work. Promotions, staffing decisions, and feedback often feel more about playing the game than actual merit. If you don’t have the right internal advocates, good luck moving up. The constant travel is another issue. Even in situations where remote work would be just as effective, there’s an outdated expectation to travel to “colocate” with teams. It’s exhausting and unnecessary, and it adds an extra layer of stress to an already demanding job. Worst of all is the performance management process. Feedback is often vague, contradictory, and, at times, completely arbitrary. It can feel like decisions about your trajectory have already been made before reviews even happen. Gaslighting is not an exaggeration—one week, you might hear that you’re exceeding expectations, and the next, you’re suddenly “underperforming” with little explanation.

Great compensation but lack of leadership and professionalism.

      Manager
      Former employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Excellent compensation and competitive benefits. Nice office.

      Cons

Lack of clarity and alignment within the leadership team. Poor onboarding process in the department, making integration and performance challenging. The company culture does not always align with what it preaches. Unstructured performance management: Decisions like terminations happen without prior warnings or the implementation of a PIP. Lack of professionalism in talent management and team development.

      Pros

Compensation and benefits, really interesting coworkers

      Cons

Unpredictable and excessive hours (attempts to counteract this are performative), lots of favoritism in the review/promotion process (despite the adamant insistence that it is entirely merit based), and a thoroughly disconnected constellation of internal management entities which often fail to support employees appropriately as a result of poor communication
