      Overall Good Company

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Initial salary was higher than expected, decent benefits, super flexible hours, work/life balance is good, allows remote work, strong ethics (for a real estate firm), empathetic and helpful managers

      Cons

Annual raises are subpar (3% increase), giant company can be hard to navigate, always terrified by the threat of layoffs dependent upon the economy, antiquated and unorganized performance management, usually require at least a year or two of service before they’ll promote someone, insufficient training budget, doesn’t invest much into corporate functions compared to producer roles, lack of accountability for some important functions like HR and IT, you won’t get anywhere unless you build and fight for your own career path

      GREAT CULTURE

      Pros

Company benefits are very good and pension is particularly good. Friendly staff and clear progression routes

      Cons

      Pros

Large corporation with many opportunities for growth, flexible work options, offer good benefits

      Cons

Coming from a much smaller, but large corporation, CBRE is almost too big to really make an employee feel like part of something bigger than their own role. It’s been challenging to feel like my role has a purpose or is truly seen as a value to the market.

      Pros

Great work/life balance, unlimited PTO for those making over 100k, benefits are great, yearly bonus (5% of salary) and salary reviews (typically 3-5% increase).

      Cons

      I literally have zero complaints.

Laid off 6-mo pregnant : A hint of racism, a sprinkle of sexism, and a an overall feel of exclusivity

      Pros

They give 4 weeks of PTO which is great, Their benefits are great mostly but based on your level of pay, they have locations all over the world which is great for those that like to be nomads or interacts across timezones.

      Cons

In short, I was hired in summer of 2022 on an experimental team to help the A&T area grab more clients are commercial real estate has become a dumpster fire due to the pandemic. I was hired along with a white woman and an asian guy who was the "manager" of the team. As time carried on, I could tell both of these individuals lied on their resume or had very poor work ethic. They were both non-caring and pretty lax and sloppy about processes and results. I Ama. reputation person and so this bothered me deeply. I was the only person on the team who had a M.S. degree, and I'm a black woman so of course I had to have more education to qualify where they did not. Either way, we worked, our work direction changed often as we were attempting to connect with various teams to meet their needs. These teams were not very welcoming and we had to convince them often of our team's worth. They were very condescending especially many of the white women I interacted with. Anyway, our director got very quite for about 3 months and did not set up any update meetings. In Jan 2024, he added a random meeting on our calendars and we were terminated, but not the white lady on our team. So me, black women who is 6 months pregnant, and Asian man were let go as our team was dissolved. They seemed to be able to find a place for the white lady, who is my opinion was the not competent at all to do the level of work that was needed for great outcomes. So, we are provided a half-trash severance package and loss of insurance in the middle of a pregnancy with no space to plan. Oh and they pay well-below market!
