Does DaVita offer tuition reimbursement?

They desperately need me so they can't quite fire me without a cause.

Where to begin? Poor management: they like to have team meetings that make you feel like you're "part of the village" and your voice is heard but the reality is your managers hands are tied by their manager who only thinks of money and doesn't care that all the staff are new and the only veterans can't quit because of legal reasons or other personal circumstances. I think this is an intentional hiring technique to combat their terrible turnover without affecting how much they have to pay us. Which brings me to number two... The pay: I have been working for davita since June 2008 and I have less than .75 cents a year to show for it... davita promises you a dollar at the very least when you get your certification but guess what when you get that cert they tell you that you haven't contributed enough and so begins the long long train of lies and poor business practices. Truly the only reason I've stuck around is I planned on taking part in their tuition reimbursement to become a nurse and further my career in dialysis but seeing how little these companies care for the patient and for their employees who make their yachts possible has made me see I need to get out of the medical field all together. I hope this helps you see the true nature of this evil company. Stay home with your parents and get your nursing degree you'll thank me later!

Stable company to work for with great benefits. DaVita offers tuition reimbursement, so it pays to go back to school and get a degree. They also help with career advancement and development.

If you are new to dialysis, it may take a while to reach a decent wage. You are required to work 12 hour shifts, mostly on your feet, and managers will always look to add to your workload.

Health benefits - This is the only positive thing I can really say. And the tuition reimbursement is good !

This company PRIDES itself on work life balance, but that is a complete LIE. They also state that no experience is needed but the truth is they don’t want to pay anyone who actually has experience and would be great for the management roles ! We have complained so many times to please hire leaders who actually know a thing or two about healthcare! I referred a friend of mine and the recruiter completely ghosted him. Even after calling and emailing , they refuse to give updates because they are searching for the lowest bidder. I won’t be at this company much longer because of the deception , and unprofessionalism. He deserves a better experience than this !

Pay too low for amount of work

- Acceptable benefit packages, depending on where you live. Note that there will be differences between metro and rural areas. - Facility Administrators are usually flexible regarding in-clinic hours as long as patients are seen and work is completed. - Local (not corporate) management cares about work-life balance. - Good MSW training and onboarding until corporate makes a change (best onboarding I've ever seen for an MSW). - Local management strives to maintain a ratio of 1 MSW to 110 patients. - MSW has face-to-face communication with patients (weekly-monthly). - Communication between staff members and MSW regarding patient care. - Depending on the Facility Administrator, hourly wage and reimbursement are available for continuing education (see cons for further information).

- Currently (3/2024), no one in Washington State corporate leadership (regional/division) is an independently licensed social worker in WA State who can provide oversight and/or supervision. - Too much insurance work gets assigned to MSW without support. - Must be an expert on Medicaid in Washington State and must manage all American Kidney Fund and Kidney Disease Program clients. - While DaVita employs insurance counselors 80%-90% of insurance work will be done by the MSW. - MSW will do all transplant insurance work as Insurance Counselors (per current policy) will not assist with finding the best insurance for transplant candidates. - MSWs may find DaVita to be discriminatory because Insurance Counselors only work with commercial insurance/private pay and will not work with Medicare, Medicaid, or other government-based insurance. - Expect a 2-year RN to be paid more than the MSW. - Depending on the Facility Administrator, you must take PTO and pay out of pocket for continuing education (this can be interpreted as discriminatory because DaVita doesn't provide enough MSW CEUs internally to meet yearly Washington State requirements - In contrast, RNs and PCTs are provided a full internal curriculum to meet their yearly CEUs). - The current performance motivation initiative is seen as demeaning by experienced MSWs. The slight increase in compensation might be worth the extra responsibility and stress for the new hire but, it is not worth it for the experienced employee. - Corporate policy doesn't take state laws into account. - Current regional leadership is all from retail and none of them have any healthcare management experience.

Micromanaged by leadership unfamiliar with dialysis or nursing. No checks and balances Experience, performance and education do not matter. You have to be a catty woman to work for them. Don’t have kids! They will get rid of you!
