What is a typical working day like at Goodwill?

Every day is a new challenge.

Too many to list. Salaried position, you basically live there! Expected to come in early, leave late, monthly mandatory store meetings at 730a - doesn't matter if you closed the night before and if you close the night off the meeting. Understaffed-day shift will have the coverage but closer will be scarce. Reason being is because the closers have to clean up the day shift and night shift customer mess on top of putting out what the day shift failed to do. It's miserable. DON'T WORK CLOSING SHIFTS!! Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

- Seeing what comes to the sales floor first - Some coworkers are decent to work with - Company provides help with filing taxes and access to talk to a financial advisor to talk about resources within the community and planning for a budget

- Upper management does not listen to concerns and treats you like a child or robot - Company does not want you talking to other employees and isolates you so you may not talk to other employees during your shift - Company forces you to ask people for donations at check out, if you do not hit a certain percentage goal you get a write up for this - People often donate clothing or items that smell like cat pee or damaged beyond repair - Turn over rate was ridiculous, having to pick up extra shifts constantly otherwise you are " Abandoning your shift" and will be terminated - Managers will get in trouble if they kind to employees and will not be able to advance in their careers -
